Watching the movie made me cry because my mom outed me to my dad and my grandparents. I specifically asked her not to, and she refused to tell me their reactons. Eventually I learned my dad was homophobic at first, but my mom talked to him about it. I didnt even get to know what he was thinking then, and I still don't. Too bad they had Simon and his friends during their senior year in this film. In Leah's book, which just came out on April 24th, there is the cutest promposal from Bram to Simon. Also, there is a huge plot twist in the book "Leah On the Offbeat." Leah and others have their secrets and the movie live Simon skipped all the way from the end of the Winter Carnival to seventeen days before graduation. I would have loved to know how everything unfolded during the intervening months and it's interesting because. Once again, in "Leah," Bram and Simon end up going to different colleges but they meet up for weekends since Simon goes to school around Philadelphia at a small college where there's a huge gay student population.
