Welcome back everyone and thanks for your patience! Today I take you to the actual house where a man named Simon Bolivar lived as we continue checking out some of the Best Places to See in Bogota, the capital of Colombia! Simon Bolivar is known to EVERY person who grows up in South America as the Liberator of Latin America, but is virtually unknown to most Americans and Europeans because we just don't learn that much about Latin American history in schools. But he was REALLY REALLY important. Basically the George Washington figure of South America!
I got a chance while in Bogota to take a special guided tour of his house, or we should say mansion because that's what it was at the time. I learned about the lover that he lived here with and all about HOW he lived and what is was like to be a "god" as he sometimes referred to himself, in the 1800s in Venezuela, Colombia and all of the surrounding countries (Panama wasn't invented yet as a country, it was still a part of Colombia.
Join along and let's see how this LIBERATOR, HERO, "GOD" or as some say "traitor" or "villain" lived and what he was all about!
