Since Japanese viewers know the lyrics of the song that plays in the background of the dance, they will notice that the girls' gestures match the lyrics. Foreigners probably don't understand what the girls' incomprehensible gestures represent.

The song is called Cinderella Honeymoon by Hiromi Iwasaki and the lyrics are way different than the gestures. It's about two lovers who are wondering how long the love will last. So the gestures only match the beat, not the lyrics.

The song has been transformed into a fast tempo and incorporates traditional Japanese facial expressions, Kabuki, and other classical performing arts. Wish you had the longer video. They entered the stage with the penguin walk. They were asked what made them different from other dance groups. Their reply was (paraphrase) that they had an original Japanese piece that showed their Japanese soul.

I agree with you about the timing. Synchronizing a large group of dancers on stage to perform the same movements is always hard work and talent. But what these girls showed is a completely next level. It's controlled chaos, and it requires mastery not only from the choreographer, but from each dancer individually, and these are all still very young girls, which makes this dance doubly impressive
