'Rousseau is more important than Marx'....what? The former lived before industrial capitalism. Rousseau's ideas were exposed by Hume's Empiricism. Ideas are not transcendent. There is something which is not quite right. He talks like a cultural critic and not a philosopher. The interviewer is useless - ask him what he thinks of 1. Noam Chomsky, 2. Brexit.Otherwise, Simon slowly reveals that he is...like an old punk: A capitalist. End of story.

Are you one of those "boyish, macho 'smash the state''" Leftists Critchley mentions? Do you want to "smash" some capitalist, Republican, neoliberal, fascist, Nazi, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. faces too. Does violence turn you on?... Love the accusation of Critchley being "a capitalist". What a teen slogan. How hip. How shallow. Fit for a t-shirt and nothing else.... Can't you engage with ANYONE you disagree with without being a boyish and aggressive macho Leftist?... By the way, I have no idea how old you are. My point is that you come across like a teen Leftist with hormone problems. But you may well be in your 50s.

That said, perhaps your concern for doctrinal purity and advocacy of anti-capitalism is purely intellectual, not hormonal. You know, your anti-capitalism is the equivalent of doing mathematics or logic. Sure.
