I have heard more than a few versions of Souvenir de P.R., but this pianist seems to have a special affinity with Gottschalk. It is a very poetic version he renders…perfect rhythm, to me it sounds like every note is played in its natural spot. And that also goes for his phrasing. In short, a joy to listen to. Thank you Mr. Ghraichy!

It's very good. I like how little pedal he uses but I think at parts it needed more pedal.

Fantastic interpretation....Gottschalk was a larger than life pianist and composer, it's totally appropriate to have his music played in this larger than life fashion. Bravo, Mr Ghraichy.

Very personal and dreamy interpretation of this composition. Totally romantic with unexpected explosions of the emotions rendered. Extraordinary mastering of the pedals and staccati. I hope you will explore other compositions of this so original composer. "Fall of leaves (la chute des feuilles)", "El cocoyé" or "Bataille" for example.
Great interpretation Simon. Contagious rhythm, dynamic control is where its at for this deceptively simple piece. I've heard enough sleepy interpretations of this piece to know when someone is just not "getting it" well you "got it" thank you for this music!

Im obsessed with this song and this rendition of it. Its so good I can even excuse the picardy third at the end haha. I have the sheet music and I am trying to learn this piece. Honestly each hand alone isnt *that* bad, its just putting it altogether is the hard part. But I will be able to play it all the way through some day for sure , and I have this video to look to for inspiration

It's actually "Volante" and not "Rolante" which means "flying" and it's to emphasis the light character of the right hand which "flies" a 2-octaves distance! :)
