From the American drama television series Rise (2018).
A passionate working class high school drama teacher decides to put on a high school version of the musical "Spring Awakening”. Two of the drama club students, Simon Saunders and Jeremy Travers, are cast in roles ("Hänschen" and "Ernst") which involve them sharing a kiss. But as they rehearse the show, Jeremy begins to have feelings for Simon for real.
In Part 2 (S1 E03+E04) …
To stop him from taking part in the play, Simon’s parents have arranged to transfer him to another school. He tells everyone it’s because the new school has better facilities and will improve his college prospects. But Mr Mazzu finds out that it’s really because his parents don’t like the show as it doesn’t conform to their beliefs and values. Everyone is sad that Simon will be leaving in a few days, and no-one more so than Jeremy.
A couple of nights later when Jeremy gives Simon a lift home from Robbie’s party, he tells him he will miss him, like really miss him. As they face each other in the car, their eyes lock but, before anything else can happen, Simon quickly exits the car. On entering the house, he dashes for the bathroom and is violently sick. He tells his parents he had too much to drink, but his mother knows that’s not the reason. She thinks it’s because they’ve been too hard on Simon, but only he knows the real truth... that he’s attracted to Jeremy and can't handle it.

Background…
“Rise” is inspired by the young adult novel “Drama High” by Michael Sokolove, which focused on the real life of drama teacher, Lou Volpe, of Harry S Truman High School in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Volpe's story follows his accomplishments of bringing a diminished high school drama programme in a blue collar, middle class town to international prominence. The real-life Lou Volpe was gay but was portrayed as straight in the TV show to make him "more relatable" and to enable additional family characters to be introduced.
On 11th May 2018, NBC cancelled the show after just one season.
