I keep coming back to this, I love the tuning of the drums, the resonance and tone,,,, with Simon playing to the rhythm while letting the tones breath. Masterful. His amazing playing and drum kit voice selection, rhythms, rhythm overlap......just mesmerizing. The echo effect coming through while introducing additional rhythms,,,,,all while holding the storyline from the start of the solo.......Simon takes his craft to new uncharted places. Bravo!!

I just love the sound he pulls out of his kit.so open and beautiful, the way drums are supposed to sound.No muting,no 2ply heads,single ply ambassadors wide open.The sound he creates will live on for many generations. I wish more professional drummers tuned there drums like this.

I"we saw Simon with S.Clarke for the first time. Since then he"s my drum guru,teacher and my Man! Since 1985 when I studied drums Simon was always my inspiration,saw him many times live,he"s my reason for playing drums! Thank"s Man!!

What amazes me most about Phillips is how perfectly he transitions between single, double, and triple stroke rolls- if I wasn't watching the video I wouldn't know which he was using, just from the sound of it (except sometimes, depending on the full structure of the particular beat). He has such great control.

An incredible drummer. And - I really like how his kit always sounds, very airy, transparent and sharp. No need to over emphasize the low frequencies that typically make the kit sound like mud with other instruments.
