Absolutely love Simon. I have seen so many of his videos and how important is authenticity is to him....fabric of who he is. So I am guessing is that he just wanted to give the British accent a go...why not. Always up for a challenge.....I lived in Scotland for 5 years and could never do a Scottish accent. Anyhow, just thinking out loud. Love Simon and now a huge fan of Marquet:-)

Interesting he turns his accent on and off depending on his crowd. It's certainly more muted in his US presentations.

I completely noticed this first thing. I really bought into his start with why speech... Now he seems counterfeit and not genuine. I get it... but I don't. Most people who live in America could listen to an Englishmen read the phone book and be in awe... why on earth would he cater to the crowd? And I am from the deep southern United States. When I travel up north people love how I speak. I love hearing people from other parts of America and the world... This just totally stumped me and totally moved him down on my list... It seems dishonest either way. Wikipedia says he was born in Wimbledon, England.... I don't get why he would seek to lose his accent... And if he genuinely lost it from living in America, why try to turn it back on? Just plain weird and like I said, comes across very counterfeit.

Well I am from Serbian, and different regions have different accents, and I know many people who moved and they shift their accent when they go back to where they were, and they don't even get why, it just happens.Same with Simon here, he is not being fake.

This happens to me too. Whenever I visit a region /country where people speak with a different accent, I start to speak differently without even noticing. It usually takes me a couple of days to go back to my normal accent after I get home

Assuming of course there is a basic level of competence.... not always so in the real world.

Marquet addresses this as one of his two pillars enabling him to give control in his book.

His family is originally from the UK. What's weird is that he technically didn't live there - his family moved around the world, from South Africa to Hong Kong and eventually the U.S. I like the guy, but can't tell if he just chose to sound this way to make himself sound smarter.
