The thing that made transitions "click" for me was following my head, instead of focusing so much on my feet. Like when my head turns over my shoulder in the direction I want to go, my body seems to follow it naturally. Also, a stagger stance. Love your videos!

Hey your video really helped me. I've been skating since I was 5 yrs old. I'm now 46. I haven't skated in about 15 plus years. So about two weeks ago I started again. I was nervous doing transitions again. I needed a refresher and your video was perfect for that . Thank you. Also funny thing I lost my toe stop the other day and almost busted my A _ _. I guess that happens a lot more than I thought.

Aww I’m glad it helped ❤️ Thanks got sharing, and you’re welcome 😇 Be safe out there with your toe stops & tighten them up! I totally have had that happen too many times myself hahah. Much love 💕

Nobody, that I can recall, has mentioned the side step (heel to heel) in any of the other tutorials I've watched. I can do the transition but I felt like I could improve. this might be my missing step! I can transition at a decent speed but when I want to do a toe stop on a hill, I lose my nerve to transition and end up bailing in the grass.

Can you do a video on what the different trucks do and which are best and which last longer I can’t find any videos on them and I don’t want to pay 600$ for skates and not have the best of everything on them or save some money if it’s not that big of a deal?!!
@africandispatch4 жыл бұрын
You don't have to drop $600 at once, you can buy wheels, bearings, cushions, plates, boots, etc and upgrade over time.

Are there any stretches I could do to be able to get to heel to heel? I've been skating for a few months and can't do it yet
@simon_slays553 жыл бұрын
Yes! Stand facing a wall in sidestance or laying on the ground with hips open & toes pointed out. You don't have to go flat against the wall or floor, you can just do it enough to strength. Hope this helps! I have more tips on this as well, it took me so long to get sidestance as well.

So do you kind of lift your feet up when stepping or do you lift up heel then toe? Ive seen a few different ways and am struggling a bit with it!

Hi!!! I just bought my son the new bounce in-line 2 in 1 convertible skates but I don’t know how to change them from having the wheels all in a single row to having 2 of them side by side in the back and one in the front so it’s easier for my son to balance on them. Please help!!! I can’t find ANYTHING on how to do it!!

Do you learn to backwards skate before learning transitioning?
@simon_slays553 жыл бұрын
Good question! I learned all these skills at once in a roller derby boot camp with trainers, and had to work at them to progress and get them down over time. I think transitions are a really important skill to learn as a fundamental; being able to change directions is so important, but to be able to transition skating forward to backward or backward to forwards (180) you do have to be able to at least roll backwards. You can always start with rolling backwards and work up to controlled, momentum-building backward skating. Everyone learns in their own order -some skills come easier or quicker than others, but I think as long as you are making progress and practicing you'll be able to learn both skills! If I had to choose, I'd say learn how to backward skate on a basic level, then learn how to do transitions. Hope this helps! Happy skating

I seem to be doing a spin. What am I doing wrong?
@simon_slays554 жыл бұрын
You'll get it! Quick tip- you may be going a little faster than you want into it, so maybe roll into it a tiny bit slower and see if that changes the spinning. Quick tip #2- Make sure you pick up your feet as you do each step! If your wheels are staying all on the ground, you'll be rolling which can cause you to spin. Hope this helps! You got this!
