Paul Simon is one of America's great poets, a treasure. Its so nice to see the two of them getting along. Everything they've done has been special but for me, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. is my favorite S&G album and Bleeker Street my favorite song.

it seems great talent never comes from easy lives. so many times those who are compensating create timeless acts. the music has been some of the very best ever. magical its sad to know the suffering behind the scene but perhaps without it the magic could not happen

Paul seems to be wearing the exact outfit that he's wearing on the cover of his 1983 solo album "Hearts and Bones", only with a different tie. Interesting.
@artvandelay8090

He is wearing the same outfit. He doesn't want to spend the money on new clothes. As long as they don't fall off due to wear and tear, why should he spend the money on new clothes? Guys like him hate to spend money on food to eat because they know that they only poop it out later. That's how cheap they are.

So funny: Paul born 17 days earlier but "born premature", so he is younger (sounds like a race of their mothers). They both are VERY individualistic. No wonder that they behave like fire and ice.

It’s amazing how complex we are as source and human beings. The lessons we’ll have, the ways in which we experience life, the conclusions we may or may not come to. Look at the body language starting at 2:03. Paul hears the way Art is talking, does a body scan of Art, and adjusts his own posture. It’s in the eyes. Art has always been himself at all times, everywhere he goes and that’s largely probably due to him being on the spectrum (I suspect). He’s in his own world, mostly. Both have Chirons in Leo, the wound of talent. Researching this and more, you can see that they appear different, but actually mirror each other- and they see in each other the things they haven’t accepted about themselves. That’s why their source selves agreed to work with one another here on Earth. Together, they are a major part of eachother’s life scripts. Luck & all else finds Art, Paul has to work for it a little, both doubt/pondered their worth internally, both are extraordinary together❤

Based on their articulacy you word assume that both of them contributed equally to the songwriting, at least as regards lyrics. Did Paul actually forbid Art from writing or was Art too intimidated by the standard Paul had set to try?

I think I just figured out why these two sometimes clash. Simon thinks he's the superior in the group (and rightly so), but Art is taller, better looking, and way more arrogant.
@cruiser6260
@cruiser6260 Жыл бұрын
Paul wrote all the songs which meant art had no control of music direction. Paul did solo on the side without telling art. Art then went off and did movies without telling Simon. They also did it for tat stopping singing mid song decades apart. Final straw when art didn't tell Paul his voice was damaged and he found out on tour. Everyone except Danny DeVito is taller, but art was also a much better singer

@@cruiser6260 My take is that Art does really respect Paul, but does not feel respected in return. Paul mentioned that Art sings really good. But Simon and Garfunkel is an artistic creation (writing yes (Paul), but performance most especially). Art is not a technician on auto-tune. They have a sound which they adjust to each other. I think Paul really wanted (and achieved) critical success as a song writer and guitarist. If only Paul had been able to see that he WAS respected in this way, perhaps it would have allowed him to give Artie CREATIVE credit as half of the performance sound. Ultimately, both genius and they both seem very kind, each with their own idiosyncrasies, as expected.

Find it interesting these two echo the same sentiment of other pop musicians. When asked who s greatest, they always default to chronology. So, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis were better than Elvis who was better than the Beatles who were better than The Who ad infinitum. Guess it's a safe way to honor others while not diminishing your own contribution.

In a later interview with Letterman, Paul Simon ( alone )was also petty and hard to talk to about Garfunkel. Given that they agreed to appear on this show, being paid, AND were able to plug their Tour, this kind of behaviour is not only unprofessional but infantile and disrespectful to their millions of fans.
