It's current format wasn't introduced in 1990. the formula from 1990 until 2014 was exactly the same as the formula under which Gail Greenough won it. This year, it was still the same except the "Final Four" was dropped. All that changed in 1990 was the name and that other sports were happening on the same grounds.

Why does Fei say 1st ever female world champion?? Gail Greenough for Canada 🇨🇦 was world champion in1986 with her horse Mr T. FEI should know better 😏 Never the less it's a fantastic achievement by Simone Blum and Alis
@hannjenn6 жыл бұрын
Simone Blum put in a wonderful final round in the 2018 WEG show jumping final, but the format is easier now, and female Canadian show jumper Gail Greenough pulled off the win under the original format in 1986.
@garotadagavea5 жыл бұрын
From what I read, the difference is that the top riders had to go through the course with each other’s horses. Now, this is certainly harder, for those would be pairs of strangers. However, now what is being measured is the partnership between horse and rider. It seems to be a different take on the sport, more akin to dressage. Personally, as a neophyte observer, I find this take more attractive even if “less” difficult.

equime Gino Cassano FEI World Equestrian Games take place since 1990. The statement was relating to this. Before 1990 there were no FEI WEQ, every discipline had its own event. Gail Greenough didn't won FEI Show Jumping Event, even though she won in Aachen 1986. Best regards from Germany!
@jaynehuddleston86316 жыл бұрын
Oh yes it was the FEI World Championships in 1986. The FEI just opted to run multiple world championships in the same venue in 1990.
@Ridinggirl086 жыл бұрын
Jayne Huddleston BUT it was relating to the WEQ since 1990, like I’ve already said! Since 1990 when all disciplines were put together into one event they were called World Equestrian Games. And since then no woman won this competition.
@jaynehuddleston86316 жыл бұрын
If they called it a female world champion in 1986, and they crown a world champion now, then it is a second female world champion. They didn't cancel the previous world championships in 1990. They, simply, started holding them with other championships that have no impact on the result of the world show jumping championship.
@jaynehuddleston86316 жыл бұрын
With due respect to the very worthy winner, your headline is WRONG. Gail Greenough, of Canada, was the first female World Show Jumping Canada,

a great rider, now question. interesting would be the backgrounds of this victory. but the title is wrong: first female WM was Gail Greenough, Canada, with Mister T. (and details about the modus are nonsense. the modus for Gail Greenough was more worthy, asking for the skills of riders).

No she didn’t . Gail Greenough won in Aachen in 1986

@jaynehuddleston86316 жыл бұрын
Gino Cassano is actually right cavallo. You are wrong. The World Equestrian Games IS the world championships in multiple disciplines. You can't crown a first female show jumping champion in 1986 and then do it again in 2018 and say it was a first. Every sport changes where and how they hold their championships but they don't pretend the past ones never happened.
@moon-ig8tq6 жыл бұрын
@@jaynehuddleston8631 I think that's why the description said the format was introduced in 1990. I believe they mean that this is the first time a female was won at the FEI WEG Showjumping since they started this event in 1990. Not quite sure, but that's what I think
@jaynehuddleston86316 жыл бұрын
Of course, that's what they mean. But a world show jumping champion is a world show jumping champion. It's not the champion, only if you word it exactly the right way. Sports have records and you shouldn't need to split hair and dissect the semantics of the wording to know who is or was the champion. It is unfair to all past champions.
