I loved learning how to better lob from the kitchen as forehand and backhand AND where to dink so I won't be as likely lobbed against. Can't wait to drill this! Thank you!!

I actually would like to see Simone perform the task rather than the student. I'm watching the video for the correct technique not her ability to teach someone.

Excellent video. Very well explained and very helpful having the actual teaching session in the video. It makes the viewer feel like the student, as well. Good job.

A perfect situation for this is when your opponent is trying to “read” your next dink and drops their paddle to anticipate the shot. With their paddle down and their weight forward; a quick disguised lob is going to be very awkward to try and recover.

Obligado for your awesome videos. I am a 59 year old man athletic, I still have some speed and I've been playing since march. I mentioned this to say that I have always wondered why people don't use more lobs. At my age I think 9 out of 10 times the person returning a lob is going to either going to miss it or give me an easy put away. This video really helps me to be more confident in lobbing! Why don't Pros use more lobs? I would like to become competitive and perhaps get to a 4.5 someday, do you think I should try to master the lob among other things?

What do think about lobbing cross court instead of down the line? It seems to me that if you are trying to hit an offensive lob it would be more effectively hit cross court. The main reason being that you have way more room with which to work.

I agree sir. Most of the time I go diagonal. I don't care about forehands or strength of opponent. I just don't want it to go long.

Josh Goodwin a lot of it depends on the situation. If I see an opportunity it doesn’t matter the direction. A very effective spot is from the right side crosscourt towards the person on the right’s backhand. It creates a lot of confusion. But I also like to go from any side in front of me if I can get them by surprise. The thing about a lob down the line is that it gives your opponent less time to react. That’s just my opinion

Lobs are so important in doubles. Once your opponent is at the kitchen line its hard to score

I would have thought she would say lob over the backhand.

Think the lesson could be more quickly & precisely depicted if YOU (Simone) modeled the perfect form/stroke/execution instead of watching you instruct a student who is intermittently approximating the desired result. Still gleaned a bit, thanks.

Also, there is much less control on backhand lobs so people should rarely try them. Not sure what this woman is talking about.
