I will say though while they maybe could co write their individual visions would probably be too hard to mesh together.

Tarantino is such an enigma to me. He is a cinematic encyclopaedia and yet I can't imagine him sitting still for 2 hours. I imagine him to be the kind of guy who chats throughout a movie and yet he still seems to absorb everything.

@TheGoodChap2 жыл бұрын
He does know absolutely everything though. One thing that really made me stop and think for awhile because it's sort of poignant and I'm surprised I never thought about it but theres an interview with Tarantino on some late night show where he mentions he spent his whole life becoming a film encyclopedia where you had to watch every movie ever and memorize the director, actors, dps, etc because without the internet there were no books you could get to know every role an actor was in or every film a director worked on so he could give advice if someone liked something and wanted to see more like it Quentin could do that. But he was sort of lamenting that with IMDB it made it so anyone can know everything and he spent his whole lifetime perfecting that! Its got to be a weird feeling for him

+Obscure Entertainment So it's your mission to watch every movie ever made?
@TheGoodChap8 жыл бұрын
+Obscure Entertainment It's funny. I saw this movie in a local theater in 2007 and became completely obsessed with it. I bought the film and started watching every special feature there, and the commentary with just Edgar Wright on it. When I saw that for the second time I decided to take notes and write down every single film Wright mentions in his commentary and watched almost all of them that summer. Still need to see all the rest of the ones brought up in this interview but I'll be watching them all year. Me and my friends used to watch this movie literally every single time we hung out, fell asleep to Hot Fuzz probably as many times as I've seen it around 100 times I'd guess. 23 now and I feel so old and nostalgic thinking about it or watching it again.

gocsa it's not that they're not well spoken. It's that their brains are faster than their mouths. If that makes sense. Everything they're saying is coming off the top of their heads. The language center of the brain needs a chance to catch up. It's honestly pretty common amongst creative types. You'll hear people start sentences six different ways before landing on the way they want to say it.
@hyperworm30047 жыл бұрын
Surely not being able to get a sentence out would mean the mouth was faster than the brain? A fast brain should be able to structure sentences even quicker than the average person. Maybe they just don't have well-developed language centres.

For anyone else wondering this (and was so slow they couldn't figure it out), this commentary doesn't need to be (and imo shouldn't be) listened to while watching the film. Like, you can hear the film in the background of them talking here so you *can* play it alongside them talking, but overall this is just a great interview/interaction between two directors with encyclopedic film knowledge. It doesn't add to the film. they're just riffing and talking about what pops into their heads (which doesn't usually entail the particular scene happening at the time). Still great, though!

The DVD versions of Edgar Wright's films usually have several commentaries. So if you want to hear Edgar actually talk about Hot Fuzz, pick up a DVD/blu-ray copy of it and you'll have about a half dozen to choose from. And if you want to hear Edgar and Tarantino talk some more, pick up a copy of his tv series "Spaced". Tarantino is on one of the commentary tracks as well as Kevin Smith, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and the rest of the main cast.

First director I knew by name was probably Steven Spielberg, first one who's name held a lot of weight for me was Kubrick.
