I think it'd be cool to go to the spot where they detonated castle bravo and see the huge underwater crater it left.

Cool, yes. Horrifying? Also yes.

I’ve been looking for footage from any dive to the bottom of it for years! Feels like I have to go there myself and make that dive for a sake of youtube!

This area is still highly radioactive today. Did you guys use Geiger counters? I’d should imagine this would be very dangerous.
@InsiderDivers Жыл бұрын
It has not been radioactive for a long time. But, you cant drink the ground water which still has some radio activity. No to local coconuts and crabs too. But we do not need anything local on our liveaboard ship anyway.

The IJN Nagato was a battleship, not a destroyer

good spot. I subtitled it battleship but the audio says destroyer. oops. Would be nice if YT would let us update videos.

During 1954, 1956, and 1958, 21 more nuclear bombs were detonated at Bikini, yielding a total of 75 Mt of TNT (310 PJ), equivalent to more than three thousand Baker bombs.
@yuryskrip5500 Жыл бұрын
I cannot figure out how you can confuse the battleship with the destroyer. Both Nagato and the Arkansas are battleships.

That was a mistake on my part. It has been pointed out a few times. But unfortunately you cant update a video on KZbin. Very sorry

funny, another channel had a guy claiming that he was the only person authorized to lead dives there. But I guess Truk master does too.

Children of the Marshall Islands were born with sponge like bones from the radiation of the 46 nuclear tests there. SpongeBob is based upon that story...truly disturbing when you think about it
@jimboadams8520 Жыл бұрын
I thought it was still too radioactive to dive there
@InsiderDivers Жыл бұрын
There is no radio activity in the water, not even on land. Only in some of the ground water under the island, so you cant eat local coconuts or crabs. but we are self reliant on our boat anyway. Join us in 2024 www.insiderdivers.com/bikini
