So powerful, so insightful. Thank you. Five things: 1. Be patient - change takes time, 2. Make space for others - space to talk and be heard; space to belong, 3. Empathy - be kind and appreciate the other person's perspective, 4. Love - it's at the core, so find the love in others; it's their why, 5 Respect - make people feel seen, heard and valued

Deeyah Khan, you seem to have elevated and put into practice the tenants of Non-Violent Communication which is when you know someone’s joy and their pain and suffering, you can not hate them. This interview was not only eye opening but heart opening. Thank you!!!

"Listening" just like "Questions", are becoming the new "Answers". Indeed, we should not listen with the intent to reply, but with the intent to understand 🖖

Wow! What an eye opener to the reality of these groups! You are a hero Deeyah... A WARRIOR who put yourself in harms way to seek out hearts so you could understand in order to make us understand. Thank you! And thank you Simon for having her and seeking with your heart as well!

A lot of people are just too distracted to listen. It's easier to just put a label on this and that and sent it off to be judged. People talk over each other to get their point across rather than truly desiring to connect, to understand each other through the sharing of hearts, mind and spirit. Not everyone of us can do it like her in such a big and profound way however I believe if we can all practice listening, such a small but meaningful gesture of love, like you've said, at least to the person to your left and right will make a difference. Desiring to be loved and belong are part and parcel of being human. Sadly, some will manipulate it to their advantage for unethical purposes. I do agree with her. Love is the answer. Love is the basis of who we really are - it is the glue that unites us all. So much packed into a less than an hour conversation. Deeyah Kahn is an amazing person. You do invite exceptional guests. Thank you.

that moment in the story when the white supremacist said to her "you have a brother now" brought serious tears to my eyes. I wish we would all stop trying to shout each other down and give listening and understanding a chance. Thank you Deeyah Khan.

“We can not give up on each other” This one of the keys I took away from this talk. Also it’s like she uses Muhammad Ali’s “rope a dope” technique , applied to listening. Where he let the opponent punch themselves to exhaustion before he began his campaign, she allows the speaker to “wring themselves out” to be able to get to their true selves. Im not even sure what to call what she does, it’s way beyond courageous. 🙌

It's being patient in the discomfort, to listen to others before speaking only to be effective as a human. Yes we do learn about ourselves more. You are absolutely motivated, purpose driven and mindful to your cause. Lead on and God bless you as you inspire TRUTH to change our world. Love is the greatest commandment. 🙏 💘💘. Simon thank you ❤️.

Hello, Simon. Thank you and the other speakers for all the "A bit of optimisim with Simon Sinek" conversations. They are really insightful. With the online lectures during Covid-19, I have become more sure of how the real presence of the professors and the articulation they use maid our lectures more impactful and easy to follow them. I guess it would attract a lot more new viewers and listeners and help them too a lot if we could have these dialogues with the actual video of the speakers talking.

It starts with you ... share the conversations with your circle, have the uncomfortable conversations with loved ones, sit with discomfort, extend patience in difficult times ... practice presence and, keep going. It's a circle, there's really no beginning and no end. It is with each one of us to embody the kind of loving human being we want to see in this world, moment by moment. Show up with intention, being relational, and keeping practicing until there's really no more effort and you just show up with presence, kindness, and love with such ease and grace. Observe and embrace the impact and effect YOU have within and all around you ✨
