K&F concept is an underrated company. I've been using their black mist filter, adapters and I'm very contended with the results.

So when you're asked if you're a professional photographer the right answer is "I have a tripod". Checks out.

I've been using K & F Filters for a while and have transitioned from their Nano-X screw in filters to the magnetic over the last ~12 months. Always found the images produced by the various ND and GND filers to be as expected and without vignetting or colour shift. Over the Easter break, using a combination of the magnetic and screw-on ones to produce even longer times than the ND1000 alone to photograph waterfalls in Cornwall.

I use Maven magnetic filters (and the K&F lens adapters which are fantastic). I am now discovering the world of ND. I do wish someone was making magnetic colour filters as well, would make having one set of filters for film and digital a great solution.

Really enjoyed the use cases and example images. When I think of ND filters, it is often associated with images of moving water. So was inspirational to see ND filters used in urban environments. Particularly the London Eye. I also have a number of K & F Concept adapters - and have found them to be manufactured with high precision. However, only have a single ND filter. Made the mistake of going for 49mm - so only fits a few of my lenses. Also it’s almost too dark to see through. So have to unscrew the filter to check focus, then screw the filer back on - being careful not to adjust the lens. So magnetic filters seem a great idea because they can be easily fitted in a second.

Many thanks Rod. Yes, great point about focusing, the magnetic filters are really useful for that.

I've been using the VND filter from them, and its quite good. Also, don't know why I see loads of people moaning about the X in middle of image when you're using the max ND set, and it doesn't show in my camera somehow 🤷🏻‍♂️

A very interesting and well made video, filters can provide some inspiration if you're in a creative rut. One assumption i had when using a 10 stop ND was to always use the smallest aperture and lowest ISO value. You are happy at f8 instead of say f16? With a 10 stop perhaps f16 won't extend exposure time that much?

I have recently tried out a variable ND filter from aliexpress. It does a horrible job at being an ND filter, but to my surprise it is good at something unintended, at full spectrum (without UV) imaging as at long exposures visible light and infra red come in comparable amounts. So I am not mad at all :)

I've been using the K&F ND1000 with great results. My only issue is that I get a blue color cast that I have to correct in post. Do you have any tips to prevent the color cast? Great video by the way. Always very informative.

Thank you! Yes, I noticed a blue colour cast in some of my shots, but not all. It depended on the light/composition. I didn't mention it because I've got used to colour cast from all sorts of lenses, and I'm always correcting it in post. I normally use the free FastStone Image Viewer software to adjust colours my images, because it's so easy to use. The colour adjust just has red, green and blue sliders and it's a quick fix.

Thanks for all the great content you are sharing with us. For me, but that may just be me, GND he very optional as with the dynamic range of modern cameras you can recover and apply a graduated filter in software. And if I think Dynamic Range is not enought I switch to a bracket of exposure. But Nd filters are really interesting and I've just spent 25 year of photography without experiencing with them.... Your video gave me the taste to give them a try at last 😂. Thanks a lot

Another interesting and useful presentation. Thank you so very much for all your great content! Are these magnetic filters stackable, one upon another?
@Simonsutak

Many thanks. The magnetic filters do stack together, and I've just tried three together on the adapter ring - and they hold together, but you'd obviously need to be more careful!

My dream is a cheap bulls-eye gradient ND filter that we could repurpose as an apodizing element for smooth bokeh... imagine putting that inside a Colorplan (at its optical centre) :D

I like the K&F adapters. But I would not recommend their filters, not comparable to e.g. b+w. (Bought a Polarizer and compared to my B+W pro, the K&F was just "tinted")...

Nobody needs to waste cash on new retailers and "Amazon gear" when there are older filters that are as good and better and more reasonably priced available secondhand.
