Great vlog Simon what an epic fail with the trains. I still enjoyed it anyways. It was interesting to see Stafford under disruption! Can’t wait for the next one hopefully it will be successful.

Sadly it will, the 27th is RMT and 30th is ASLEF but the 30th is the worst one as there no West Midlands Trains service

Dam, I'm very sorry to hear that your vlog didn't go as planned. Well, it happens to everyone. Back in 2019, I had to do a second take on my South Yorkshire trip as my flask leaked tea all over my camcorder. But, you did get some rare terminating services and the Royal Mail class 325's. There is a saying 'Every Cloud Does Have A Silver Lining'

I would be absolutely livid if this sort of thing happened to me. Normally I don't hear of UK trains being messed up this badly. (At least you got the Class 325s at Stafford).

The Class 325 was meant to be in the thumbnail but changed it. Ten years ago I would be livid to but sometimes you just had to laugh even how bad it gets.

Simon you said you new about the problems the day before you anticipated they would be fixed just unfortunately they were not. Still a good video so people know what to expect when things go wrong like this. On that note next Monday and Tuesday the temperatures are predicted to be record breaking in some areas mainly the south of England but could be anywhere temperatures are predicted to reach 40C or higher so if you have plans to do any Rail journies on those 2 days maybe give it a kiss. Transport infrastructure are advising only travel if necessary.

Well looking into it after the video was filmed, they did ran trains down the Penkridge line as both Caledonian Sleepers passed through and a few Avanti and CrossCountry trains services and then after half six in the morning problems started again. Not sure if they did fixed it or was a temporary fixed but needed to block the line to get it fixed properly or it was fixed but something else happened. As for Monday and Tuesday, I would usually not travel, however before the heatwave was announced I booked a hotel for Sunday Night and sadly won't be able to get a refund on it so will be travelling Sunday but coming back Monday, I know it not the smart idea but don't like wasting money

Always pays to know the local buses as a backup up in case of disruptions although I'd be lost in Midland Red country!

Even if I took the bus to Penkridge, I just be at the station filming nothing but I do know some of the buses as I travel by bus between Rugeley and Stafford on work days.

Yep more rail strikes is happening not just at the end of July but also in August as well. I understand why that train drivers want to strike because of the salary is going up but yes it’s causing lots of delays and misery to rail passengers. And also the heatwave is causing railways to be affected including buckled tracks, overhead wires sagging, signalling platforms and so on.

Yes, on local journeys, I'm finding it more and more useful to always have a back-up bus alternative. That may include knowing your route from the station to the relevant bus stop, AND it may include a change of bus. All this needs to be pre-planned with something like Traveline, but be careful with that, because sometimes it doesn't function properly.!!!!!

Buses are last resorts but you can get a bus to Penkridge, however would be at the station but still no trains but if trains were cancel between Stafford and Rugeley, there are buses between the two towns, it been ages since I used Traveline being honest

@@Sim0nTrains well I wasn't specifically talking about Staffordshire - the rule I was outlining is applicable to any journey, anywhere in UK, especially if you have drawn up a tight schedule with your trains.
