The year was 1988, and I was in maths class at high scool, being taught by Miss Cunningham about sine, cosine and tangents. At the time, I couldn't help wondering, "what practical use is there for this in my future life?" And here we are, 35 years later.

Ha haa. I agree. Not only (in school) did I want to be shown real world practical uses for teaching maths, I remember more than once asking the teacher for some. None was ever given, my question was effectively dismissed out of hand. Shame.

This is another brilliant tutorial Simon. I'm curious, how much of your time has it taken from scratch before you reached the point you could put this together in 22 minutes? A day ? Hope you don't mind my asking.

Thank you. It didn’t take long to put together the basic idea but it probably took a day to turn it into an efficient enough project for a tutorial. There’s doing a project for yourself (where there’s o-one to complain about the inefficiencies and messiness) and and then there’s doing it for a tutorial where you need to keep things a lot more streamlined!
