Yup :) You still receive updates normally. I've been doing this for a while now myself. These are actually official updates from Meta, they're just re-hosted on Bastis site for easy access.

Hey man. You're a hero. This guide saved me from having to go through weeks of the RMA process, thank you so much. Meta is delivering new devices that can't get past the firmware update stage -- it got stuck rebooting and "applying update" every 30 seconds for hours. Factory resets, different networks, mobile hotspots, etc, none of the suggested fixes worked. Meta support was useless. This, however, worked like a charm. I wish I had found this days ago.

I had the same issue and was able to exchange my headset. but that was before i saw this. I did however find out why it was stuck in the update loop but there wasnt much that i could have done at the time. this side load option however would have fixed the issue.

Wow. I've been using PCs for decades and I generally know most of what there is to know and I had no idea you could simply drag a folder into the command prompt to navigate to that folder. That's such a time saving tip!

You can also open the cmd on the current folder by typing cmd on navigation bar.

Well I have to say, this worked perfectly and was a fairly well step by step guide for most people, the problem is that you don't have control over the end user, and from my experience there are many really stupid people that will try to follow this and stuff up the steps and will be pressing buttons left right and centre as well as disconnecting cables willy nilly and blaming you for a bricked Headset ;) Thank you for this as I didn't know there was a site to download the updates, I used ADB a lot on my Mobiles, trying out different versions or Android :)

I had a "bug" i guess with my quest where it was on a "installing update" into the headset restarting loop. it would never actually install the update. this helped and my quest works now. Huge thanks

This still won't change that Meta staggers the rollout of features WITHIN each update, so you can force update and still not be able to use a certain new feature until Meta deems you worthy.

now only if there was a way to apply the side/enhancement updates that apparently aren't actually included in the normal firmware updates. as in for the 66 update we might get the 66 update but not the actual improvements or additions of features(ie passthrough improvement, music in background, ect) until meta rolls them out separately. atleast thats what iv heard they were doing.

Hi, is it normal for the adb to not work most of the time? I have had 2 successful installs with the adb line working, but many failures. I got the updated platform tools and am doing what you said to do. Is there a fix for the part where we type adb after pasting the platform tools and hitting enter?

There's quite a few of us having a problem with V62 and a error of "water/debris in usb C port detected". It'd be nice to roll back a version to prove it's the update causing the issue.

Never had an issue with any updates as yet and there have been a few, maybe check your usb port and cables that you plug into it ? If you have poor cable care it's amazing at how dirty and lose they can get, I use a special electricl spray that is made for keeping connectors clean and corrosion free, also if you are the type that has to wiggle a cable to get it out or in, then you have probably damaged your port as cable wiggling is the worst thing people do with connectors, the reason wiggling seems to make it easier to remove is because you are spreading the parts that hold firm and slowly weaken them, it's why so many mobile phones have bad charge ports. I never understood the need to wiggle a cable as I have always been strong enough to just pull it straight out while holding the other end firmly ;) Hope that's a help as most people don't know this :)

@@billybobjones4317 That's a issue that many people have on Q3 right after the V62 update and using the same cable, i'm one of them. I even try a brand new cable yesterday and get the same problem. Looks like it happen when you charge the headset over 80% while playing PCVR ( charging link cable or power brick). V60 was flawless for every of those people including me so I might try to rollback to V60 with this tutorial

Nice tutorial! But one sad thing is my device was in a boot loop, and i wanted to see if using sideload update will fix it, it just made it worse, it made android corrupt :( There is two options i can select, Try Again or Factory Reset. I just didnt want to factory reset because i had lots of games (including sidequest games), videos and screenshots and my modded beat saber maps :( (But it was worth a try👍)

I tried downgrading to an older version, got "Total xfer: 1.00x" but the software version remained unchanged. Can't you downgrade? I'm currently having issues with Spatial Audio in Quest TV. A week ago everything was fine with the 3D sound. So I wanted to fix it by downgrading. Currently on Version 6.3.0

The Quest Pro 2 should have an external screen. EyeSight on the Vision Pro is pretty goofy and bad, but being able to have an outside screen is VERY useful. Navigating BIOS, charging indicators, warning indicators. Then the Quest 4 should have a tiny 128x128 outer screen that can just do the battery indicators and warning signs

It hasn't been called Mac OS X since 2016, it's just macOS at this point. X was the indicator for the being Mac OS (10), they rebranded away from Mac OS X with version 10.12 and version 11 has been out since 2020.

I'd say you can tell I don't use Mac OS very often. I might though, it's actually very stable on the hackintosh, and premiere seems very smooth.

@@TheMysticle Careful, that's how it starts. I was dyed in the wool Windows but had a Mac just for DVD authoring (yes, that long ago). My two PCs got trashed in a move to Los Angeles but the Mac was fine in its original box. A couple of days in I had figured my way around things and I haven't touched a PC since. Thinking about getting one again now just for VR gaming but that's another story ... Fantastic information and video, thank you sir!

The update procedure works but you can only flash the firmware version tat corresponds with your device. So for Quest 1 the latest one is unfortunately v50.

​@@jakefever7193 Now, I didn't. Went to Meta store to download latest and got V67 again. I knew that but wanted to make sure this method had not corrupted what I had in some way. It just does not work, for me. Not sure if this could be like certain Android phones where some firmware's can be regionally locked. Point is, for me, it does not work. Too much of a risk to brick the headset, just wish Meta would allow to upgrade by choice, if wanted.

Windows won't even let me get past the first part in command prompt. Copying the folder over does nothing at all. Edit: Make sure you tell people your downloaded file needs to be on the C drive. My downloads are on a different drive, and it wouldn't work in command prompt.

Updating through Meta's own website doesn't seem to give you the latest update as soon as its available. This video is proven to be the MOST useful tutorial on how to SAFELY update your Quest 3.

Mine did that when I wasn't booted also into ADB Debug mode (from power off -> hold Vol- and power until Text Menu appears and select Sideload Update) Then re-running the same adb sideload command ran fine.
