very nice cost-efficient system. I tested it quite extensively during last months - up to 1.19.2. Works wonders. Yes it "captures" a couple of items per module but only temporarily, or better until they are pushed by other items put in the input chest. And also the very first dropper where the hoppers of the input chests point in may get full (and if this happens the system stalls), typically when you dump many stacks of the same item and nothing else. To prevent this issue, change to subtraction mode the comparator that reads the content of said dropper.

Thank you very much, I can tell you really understand the sorter, which is super cool, and yeah the items slowly getting piled up in the one chest is definitely something I noticed later on, so that sounds like a really easy and good fix, I appreciate the comment :)

i think this is the sweet spot for storage, it covers items you have a ton of, but also things you have less off but lots of variants (eg ores, etc)

works for me on bedrock still. Sometimes the first dropper gets "jammed" so you have to take the first item out. But besides that and being a little slow it works perfectly.

Neat idea. Seems to work for small systems. For me, this design doesn't work with 12 large chests. Putting 16 items in, the items do not make it to the last chest where they should be sorted. Seems to work for early chests, but leaves items in droppers if the clock stops before everything makes it into a chest. I'm using 1.17.1 Java edition.

I have the same issue in 1.19. Wish I had seen this before spending the time to build and put all the sorted items. If I figure out a fix I will try to let you know.

I had the same problem and i think i found a solution. I just added an additional circuit (2 droppers, 2 hoppers and the connecting redstone) just without a chest at the end of the row. I also have the upper hopper that would usually go into the chest pointing downward.

@@underfaker7778 hmm, that didn't work for me. An unsorted item didn't make it to the end of the chain, a sorted item earlier in the chain still left 1 in the top dropper. In the prior case, with a stack of 5 and 7 segments, there was one item in the top dropper of each of the first five segments. My manual solution is to put a button on top of the block the comparator is facing into and walk down the line pressing buttons. I tried a clock, but that got noisy.

1.19.2 note - I notice when the initial dropper get completely full, the system stops. I was able to fix this by changing the mode of the first comparator to subtraction mode. Now the initial dropper runs even if it reached 9 stacks of the same item.

Is there a way to add a switch in so you can turn the machine on/off even if the initial sort chests are empty? (so the items left in the hoppers can finish shorting)

I’m having a hard time understanding the redstone, if there is nothing in the Starting System’s chests, then the comparator clock won’t be running.. which means the droppers won’t be dropping items, is that right? I feel like if your videos had more redstone explanation, they would be perfect!

The items are getting stuck in the top hopper that leads into the chests, I tried the lag friendly design and then it didn’t sort at all.

As long as the hoppers, droppers, and everything else are all aimed the right way the only other problem should be the clock, I would try slowing it way down just to see what happens or try another clock design, but I don't really know

Built this and the items that go into the hoppers arent filling up the right chest. The items almost go past the chest, when i put them in the hoppee manually it works. I noticed the redstone clock in the thumbnail is different to the one in this tutorial. Not sure if thats the reason tbh
