Great video and a beautiful location, would really love to get over there and give it a go with our weedless teasers on a soft plastic or top water lure.

How much is that rod and reel worth to not only use it in saltwater but to lay it on the sand? Just asking as Hardy is a well known and very expensive brand of rod.
@anglersbureauАй бұрын
The reel is a Van Staal 150 completely sealed and originally designed for extreme saltwater fishing off the east coast of America where anglers wear wetsuits and swim out to rocks (skishing), completely immersing the reel in saltwater. It's also bailess (I've made a video about it) which is couter-intuitive but incredibly easy to use and minimises components that are prone to breakage. I use it because I wanted something basic, bombproof and good quality. It's not exactly refined like high end reels, but I have complete faith in it. It cost over £500 I think about 12 years ago, but I imagine it's already paid for itself by outlasting other reels I could've bought. As for the Hardy, it just happened to be the exact balance between portability and casting weight I was looking for for multi-use fishing. It's a Marksman Smuggler Spin, 10ft and 5 pieces with a casting weight up to 2 ounces, so I can use it for light ledgering. Maybe around £200 to 300, but I don't recall, except to say I rarely buy rods and reels, but when I do it's usually high end stuff to last. I rinse it after every use and there's no sign of corrosion after all these years.

Hi, what size line do you use and is it a lighter leader and how do you store the razor fish thanks , ( just learning) Tom
@anglersbureau2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I was just using a 1.5oz weight with a 10lbs leader (12lbs main line). I collect the razor fish a couple of times a year, on the largest tides, and then shell them and freeze them.

Which Welsh estuary?
@georgeholmes60992 жыл бұрын
great video! do you aim to sink the hook to the bottom and drag/spin it along the floor? cheers
@anglersbureau2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I usually just let the rig move with the tide, casting uptide and letting it drift up the estuary, then wind in and repeat. Or sometimes I'll just walk up the estuary matching the flow of the tide.

Looks serene, which estuary is it? Estuary fishing for bass here in Dublin has really picked up this year.
