I like these videos showing you advanced regular guys installing aftermarket gear. When the makers do videos, it's often with pristine stuff under ideal environments. Old Yankee is pretty smart to be allowing you guys to install and promote their gear - it also holds their feet to the fire to make a product that works as advertised! I can't wait to see the shop truck go and stop under it's own power! Great video!

Never expected this build to come along so quickly! Having the extra help around saves you time and labor. Once you get old enough for bifocals, you will start doing all your underneath work on jacks or the lift! You cannot get your head far enough away to use the distance part, and you can't tilt your head back enough to see through the reading part. The human skull simply cannot dent the concrete enough to position the eyes to see!

Coming from just finishing the old Vern way of going with the 32K and pedals, this kit solves all the problems I had to deal with. The clutch fork arm in particular. The factory arm is too short and requires heavy foot pressure. The kit I see addressed that with a longer arm. It's nice to see the other way of doing things. Wish I had known about the kit. Thanks Matt!!!!!!!!

Nice kit and looks like easy install. The OCD in me would make me trim off the clutch pedal to match the brake pedal in appearance, but then, that's probably why it takes me forever to finish a build. In any event, a very cool project and you're doing a great job with it.
@allanrichards37522 жыл бұрын
I've got to agree with you, it made me cringe when the pedal pad was cut off like that. With the length of arm on that pedal it would have been so easy to just tweak it to miss the steering column.

I use an old garden chaise cushion as a floor mat. It's made weatherproof and shaped to fit a human head and torso. They work great and you recycle the working part of something headed for the garbage otherwise! Plus it folds for easy storage in a small trunk! Not much for kits usually. Sooner make it my self. But for that application a good thing. Your car is much modified that caused the problem. For linishing that shaft you have a lathe! And the job seems to be Moon approved!

You could have also used a brake cylinder hone on the fork side, would have been faster + dead round vs sanding the shaft

Inspection/assembly hole is a good idea but a pipe plug is tapered to a point it could split the housing if a stainless or cast plug is over tightened. A regular thread would serve the purpose.

If the throwout shaft fits in the bellhousing bosses, why not use a brake cylinder hone in the fork to get it to fit the shaft better? That way it would not affect the shaft to bellhousing bearing fit....

You guys need a couple of creepers! Laying on the floor (even on cardboard) will make an old man out of you fast! My dad (Chief Mechanic/Service Manager) made sure every mechanic in the Ford shop had a Ford logo creeper to use.
@IronTrapGarage2 жыл бұрын
Creepers sit too high and then you have to jack the vehicle way up in the air. Or it always catches on pebbles on the floor and you can’t slide. More of a pain in the ass than good in my experience.
@f4dphantomII2 жыл бұрын
@@IronTrapGarage I have a creeper that raises only requires 1.5 additional inches to get me under the car. The cones off of old tapered wheel bearings, placed big side up around the creeper wheels and just sliding on the floor will push away rust chips, pebbles, tools and air hoses.

You could have put your shaft in the freezer for a few hours and when you were ready to put it together heat the fork up in an oven, the shaft will Schrenk in the freezer and the fork would expand in the heat of the oven which would allow it to slide together without sanding the shaft. After they would return to normal temperature you would have a super tight fit.

With that kit, are the pedals going to rock side to side with engine torque or is the engine & trans bolted "hard" to the chassis?
