Simple Compound Complex and Compound-Complex Sentence | in Bengali
In this class we will learn four types of sentences - simple sentence , compound sentence , Complex sentence and compound-Complex sentence .
What is a clause ? - A clause is a group of words that has subject and finite verb combination .
Clauses are of three types -
Main clause - Sub + Finite verb
Subordinate clause - Conjunction ( Subordinating conj. / Relative pronoun ) + sub + verb
Coordinate Clause - Coordinating Conj + sub + verb
Simple sentence - It is a single clause
ex - The dog slept in the park
Compound sentence - a compound sentence consists of a main clause and one or more co-ordinate clauses
ex - John likes tea , and Joe prefers coffee
Complex sentence - a complex sentence consist of a main close and one on more subordinate clauses
ex - I sing when I return home after I finish the job
Compound-complex sentence - it consists of a main clause , one or more co-ordinate clauses and one or more subordinate clauses
ex - john has rented a house , and we are going there today , but Gopal cannot come as his father is ill
