After crappie fishing for years and years I’ve figured out this about baits......it doesn’t matter how good of a bait or how good the presentation is you still won’t catch squat if they are simply not in the area.

True that. I learned that from a trout guide. He would spend his time looking in the river and only had his clients fish where he saw fish. He said there's a 100% chance they won't catch a fish if they fish a hole without fish.

Sight fishing for crappies off docks has taught me so much about the way they feed. You can be right in the middle of a bunch and they will come all the way up to a bait without touching it. Then you can switch the color or the retrieval and the action starts. Other days they’ll hit whatever you throw at them. Very finicky fish but always one of my favorites.

@@douglas5939 in one of his videos he explained how he soakes his line and then puts on reel. It worked great. You have to take label off and make sure glue is cleaned off and soak it the entire reel of line on water for a week. Take out and them put on reel. Watch direction pitting it on

Got back into fishing a couple of years ago after 30 years playing competitive golf. Good at golf but not so much at fishing. Dad was a really good crappie guy at Pickwick. Most likely just the water it was in. Maybe not. Hard to tell without a picture. Fish don't normally crossbreed like that. Maybe a white crappie on black crappie. But most likely not crappie and yellow perch? Not saying it ain't possible but
