Simple DIY Lathe Steady Rest- Vintage Wood Workshop

How to make a steady rest for turning spindles or drumsticks. I used scrap wood and an old pair of wheels from some roller blades and it works better than I suspected!

Do you think you would benefit from a 3rd wheel? I understand it adds to the complexity. Do you think this would be adequite for longer pieces like a back spindle on a chair?

I think a third wheel would only help the design and yes spindles would work doing this. turning the drumsticks is about as long and thin as I want to try but with sharp tools it can be done
