Did you replace the housing gasket to. I believe it is a 3 bolt gasket.. or is it just a seal on thermostat?

Thanks for the video. Did you remove the tension from underneath the car?

It’s been a while but I think I did it from the top. But don’t quote me. it should be obvious when you get to it.

How did you get the hose off? Mine is stuck
@teknikser4 жыл бұрын
1. Get the belt off the tensioner shown in 0:50 Remove the pulley above the tensioner pulley. Talked about in 0:55 and 1:55

You just have to pry gently with a screwdriver all the way around. Coolant is sticky like sugar. Maybe some water would help?

Rhett Rushton thank you for the information I eventually got it done but I think I forgot to put the other washer in the idler pulley when re installing it. Do you know if there were two washers?
@teknikser4 жыл бұрын
Louis I don’t remember. Usually one washer on either side of the pulley to seat against the inner race of the bearing. Those washers will determine how centered the belt is on the pulley. Check the belt alignment once you get it installed.

I would imagine you changed the thermostat because it was bad, I mean, not just to make the video, right? It's funny, and I say/ask this, because I have a 2007 ES350 with 160,000 miles on it, and I had to change the water pump already (at 145, 000 miles) but the thermostat seems to be working fine - still. I guess it will go any day now. So I'm just saying - it's strange to me that that car (2012) is 5 years newer, and it needed to be changed already. So I will say - thanks for the video, and the tips.....

Yes it went out early. The one I pulled out was the original. I know the original owner was from Las Vegas so that might have something to do with it failing early. The wax in the piston is only made for so many cycles and I could imagine that thing cycling a lot in the Nevada desert

@Zach I understand completely that any given part is not going to last the same number of miles for every car. And as Rhett said, this car was in Nevada, and they probably went through much more than mine.
