Hello back EMF!! Many curtain controls have this action. Noticed your board used shonky diodes to prevent this.

Bro, this is how 2 way switches have been wired for generations. Whats the hack here? Moreover, for safety, the N/C or normally closed side on both relays should always be connected to the lowest potential or ground. ( Note 0V and negative voltage ARE NOT the same)

Better use H bridge mosfet circuit. It will be fast and reliable. Relay is mechanical amd may not work properly..

But they are robust. Good quality relays, if operated within design limits can last 1 million cycles or more. Moreover, electromechanical devices carry both electrical and mechanical inertia. Electrical inertia or kickback will damage the fets and the mechanical ones will damage the device. Relays, with their inherent delay, act as a safety device.
