use a cut 1/2 55gallon steel drum for the fire pit and put the coil inside it, and cut slots or drill holes for the copper to exit the drum.👍it was a good thought, but you must contain the fire... get a patio chimenea and copper-pipe-coil the inside maybe, and have a sweer patio fire/heater in one... or better yet build a patio with a stone pizza oven and hide the coil inside that! ... patio party, with stone baked pizza and hottubbing...BINGO!

Try doing water instead of salt for holding coil shape. Much easier to remove in the end. Also keep the copper warm with hot water on the outside, this will make it super easy to form if you have issues with kinking.

Recent discovery of trying before research. Use brake line copper, not refrigeration line. Refrigeration line, while usually a more pure copper. Is not meant for the heat, and will break down faster.

A wood fire like a campfire might reach temperatures as high as 1650F at it’s hottest point. Copper melts just shy of 1984F, so no it won’t melt. This is especially true with water being pumped thru it, it will never go over 212F as the water will carry away all the heat…

The unit heats up fast and is super quiet. It looks fancy kzbin.infoUgkxl8Od2BvnGbn1ffwqsuFXW0QnmcZgMiVY and can be kept in the living room. It gets hot within a split second of turning on the unit. The build quality is exceptionally good and is safe to be around kids and pets. This one is super quiet and can be kept on while in office meetings, my wife loved it. It shows the temperature right on the unit which is very useful and adding a rotating feature helps to heat up the surrounding, so other people will not fight with you for heat. It is right as described in the description..!! Definitely recommend!!

@rikc7065
@rikc7065 Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the sand is only to allow the copper to maintain form while being bent into the coil. Emptied afterwards to allow water to flow through and conduct the heat energy from the copper into the water. It would be really cool to run this through a sand "battery" instead. I think im going to try that as my pool is much larger. Having said that this system is a much easier build and seems like it does great for this application. Nice job!

Or just go to the hardware store and buy a coil of copper tubing that would probably be the best idea just saying
@MrTplanko
@MrTplanko 3 жыл бұрын
Well those coils have a really small diameter so you run a risk at melting the coil

@@MrTplanko Thank you very much! I ordered a 60cm tall, 38cm diameter burn can with a thermometer over U$85 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYPTiniLmbinjck ) to put the coil in and 15 meters of 1/2 copper coil, hopefully I'll get everything by Friday to start building the heater, not sure if the coil I ordered will do the job, I'll update once everything is setup

I just finished with the can and copper, it has 13 meter of 1/2" roll on it and two 1 meter long legs to attach the input and output., clueless on how to share some pics, the can has a thermometer to keep track of the internal temp of the fire on it. I'll run it on coal. Tomorrow I'll test it.

The heater is very small for the mass of water contained in the pool (more than 4000 litres). Also, the system they show is not insulated, this causes a lot of heat loss. This heater would operate efficiently solo en verano with a children's pool. To improve it, they should increase the size of the spiral to the volume of a 208-liters can and use natural gas as fuel.

Yea there is room for improvement but it does its job for 10000l pool
