This is a band on top of the world. You can hear and feel it. All playing out of their skin..... and Derek on bass is FUCKING AMAZING

I was there on this day! Front row. Jim pulled a bunch of us up onto the stage to dance with him.

Just love these early versions of The American! Played loud, lights off, takes me away. NGD brilliant as always, my favourite track. So many memories of seeing them live. Fantastic!!

Listening to this concert (thanks again Art & Talk) would I be a heretic by stating that this concert clearly demonstrates the transition of the band to the one that for many lost their way- the beginnings of the stadium band. Many great tracks but a feel that the journey away from the early work which was so incredible was being sacrificed - the edginess of their earlier shows is being lost already. Anyway still love the band but feel sad about where they went

@Steve Coombs you make a valid point. Definitely became an arena sounding band with SITR and its tour. Loved the energy and enthusiasm of these concerts but the New Gold Tour was so special to me and thousands more I'm sure! Thanks Steve and all the best! 👍🙏

@@ArtAndTalk have really appreciated all your efforts in producing what has been such great memories - 40 years on I still listen to the band although the majority of tracks being NGD or earlier - so while I was disappointed with the direction taken they provided me and continue to with wonderful music - for me The American will always be the outstanding track and again thank you for the opportunity to capture the band at their sublime best - cheers mate

I went to all 8 shows - Saturday to Saturday, arrived at the first night with a suitcase :) Great shows. It wasn't originally 8 nights, but after Jim lost his voice before one of the B'ham shows, these were re-arranged and more dates added. Silent Running supported each night, very good they were too. I'm sure if memory serves me right their drummer had a broken leg or arm.

Wow! U did 8 nights! Must have been great

@Steve I preferred your first response to this concert - "88 nights" before you corrected it! Ha-ha brilliant! 😂👍

@@ArtAndTalk yes I didn't realise at first, yes it was amazing. I also on the final day went to the FA Cup Final with my uncle who was a Watford fan, they lost 2-0 to Everton. So the gig was a great way to chill out afterwards

I was there for all eight nights too. It was an incredible experience. This was their best line up. I still go to see them live whenever I can and they are still a great band but this era was unbeatable.

Aged 14 with a bootleg of one of these shows, you certainly felt like a naughty insider. Happy days indeed. What a band they were in those days. Not seen them in concert since 95 however I’d see them again if they got Mel Gaynor back-in.

He drummed with them on numerous tours since he left for the 95 tour! Lol. He toured with them from 97-2017 so only a further 20 years 😂😂

Saw them this week. The 2024 version of the band is brilliant. Full of life and energy with a brilliant drummer.
