Absolutely loved and still love SM before 1987 (even more so 1980-85), but - for me - they just lost all spark beyond 1987+ with Street Fighting Years whilst the likes of U2 reinvented themselves with great success... guess that's what happens when your core members leave and you end up with essentially one musician - Charlie Burchill - writing all the music. Shame. Still: few albums come close to New Gold Dream. Almost perfection.
