I'm assuming when you got a totally black image, you must have been on like F10 and 1/200 and ISO 100 or something like that? Sorry if I missed what your final settings were. In a room like yours, you would probably see some images down to 1/80, F2, ISO 16k or whatever. Are we trying to "force" the image to be black, or do you just pick the settings you really want and hope it ends up black?

In this video I appreciate you keeping the soft box small because I am also in a small space . Also thank you for going into a bit more on why you placed the light where you did. Great video! I also photograph pets. I love Beanie’s natural tail! I had a Cocker Spaniel as well, but her tail was docked before I got her. Awesome video! I am venturing into pet photography .. my question is: how were you adjusting the light during the photo shoot- with the settings on the camera or the physical light from the camera?

There's two ways to adjust the light with this kind of studio work. You can either use the camera by adjusting the aperture or the lights themselves by adjusting the power of them. Hope this helps 😀

Thank you for sharing... I would love to have a tiny little portret studio like this in like our garage or somthing. What would you say is the minimal space your need to be able to do this? I was thinking 3mx3m/4m at least... for 2 lights maybe.. but liking this one light setup as well! 🙂

3mx3m would work as long as the subject was small.

Thank you for making this great studio lighting tutorial. However, is there anyway to avoid harsh shadow cast on the paper background (usually at the bottom) when we take full body shots of a dog?
@ThatPhotographySpot2 жыл бұрын
You will always have a shadow from casting any light on a subject but you could use a modifier such as a soft box to diffuse the light preventing such a harsh shadow. Without seeing an image for reference and knowing your setup this is hard to comment on further but I hope that helps 😊
