There was never an old nor is there a new, it's just Simple Plan now. It's just wrong to assume that because an artist/band changes style, they immediately are worse than before. Why should that matter? If their songs are just as meaningful and well thought as before, then why should it matter if they change styles or try something new? They put effort into their songs and are passionate about what they do. Shouldn't that matter more than sticking to one thing all their life just to please others? To rephrase all that I just said, there is not an old or a new, just a now. :)

What I meant to say is that the band themselves are not really trying to suit other people's needs, so it's silly to assume that they keep changing and gradually getting "worse" just because they try different styles or different things. I know the difference between old and new, it's just that people keep comparing the "old" and "new" Simple Plan when the band themselves haven't changed, it's just their song style. I don't exactly know what their songs are specifically supposed to sound like, so old and new don't really mean much of anything to me. All I'm saying is unless they change the meaning of their songs or they go to a whole new genre of music, they have never really changed much. I honestly think people expect too much from artists nowadays, so they only have specific preferences in mind. If the artists don't suit their preferences, then people will get all up in arms on how the artists are "not who they used to be" or something like that. Hopefully that should clear things up a little bit. :)

Well, maybe, but does that really mean they are bad? I don't think so. Should we really limit them to one type genre? Shouldn't we allow them to experiment a little bit, even if it doesn't really work out well? That's all I was really trying to say. My point was that no matter what types of songs they decide to do, it doesn't mean that the band themselves have changed because of a few different songs. I wasn't really trying to compare their songs, I was trying to point out how some people are limiting artists to what they can and can't do. To me, that's wrong. That is an artist's torture; to never expand their horizons and grow. Long story short, what does it matter what genre they decide to do? If their music still has passion and meaning behind it, or at least is memorable, then what does it matter what's old or new? You have to live for now and in the end that's all that should matter. Now, are we going to leave it at that? I didn't come here to argue. Just to have a nice, respectful discussion and be content with it.

It's really early in the morning and I'm listening to simple plan & all time low because I feel for these songs right now. My parents found out about my internet life (I just post art in social and youtube) & they basically took over everything from decision-making all the way to what content I should put out, treating it like some money bank... now here's the thing... 1) I have very little content on yt because I just started one(it' not this one, this is a personal acct), 2) I want to do this on my own, by my own volition and earn them in my own way, 3) They're basically invading something that I've work so hard for myself and by myself and 3) I told them how I really felt and that I understood their good intentions, but still told that this is a boundary they shouldn't cross without thinking, but no! They got mad at me! They ignored everything I said, didn't understand the concept that even their own children need privacy and do it anyway!... and I'm 23.
