I admire Simple Plan for not trying to be something they're not. They write solid Pop/Rock, and they stick to that even though it may not be the popular thing in mainstream music anymore. While there is something to be said for evolving as a band, it's also important to recognize what made you great in the first place, and never forget that. This album shows that they are still true to their roots, but have an ability to write something outside the norm as well. As a longtime listener to pop/rock who appreciates both mainstream and indie rock, an album like this is just as pleasing to listen to nowadays as it was when I was a teenager in the early 2000's when Simple Plan and bands like them were mainstream popular.

Relient K is my favorite band and being a hardcore fan seeing a band evolve is probably one of the hardest things. Especially if there is a considerable age difference. I'm 26 years old and all of the bandmates are in their late 30s now but have all evolved in some way. Their music isn't my type anymore but I still listen to it and support them. Some songs I skip and in the past I never had to. I think Simple plan after their latest album is following the same path as they are. RK doesn't aim for mainstream trend like Fallout Boy and Linkin Parks latest music.

Exactly my thoughts. Still Not Getting Any was the defining album of my high school years. I heard PS I Hate You as a suggested song for the first time yesterday. I was right back to sixteen. Their music will always speak across generations. I may be 33, but damn it if they didn't tap into that overly emotional, petty teenager side of me with one line.

I just read that there is a newer edition from (2017) Taking One for the Team: The Forerunners Edition, with two new singles called Break my heart and Hoodie. I do not get the hate they get. Not all songs they have experiment but they have quite a lot pop punk songs in their career. Example on this album: Nostalgic. It is pop punk if you like bowling for soup you will like lots of songs by simple plan

one minute i love it, then I hate it and then back again..song by song...i think the problem is some of the songs are like...ummm...way too far into some kind of kiddie show silliness...singin in the rain for instance, or everything sucks....then its back to serious ppunk....still enough sounds a lot like the first 3 albums enough to still buy it. But it does teeter on the edge of ASS land almost too many times. Ya HAVE to stick to what your fans expect to KEEP them. I mean I like disco, really, but I do NOT expect to hear it when I'm in the mood for a Simple Plan album, it breaks the mood...I'm not listening to Donna Summer at the moment ya know. I dont wanna go to bed? seriously? Would sound great on a Rick James album...which this is NOT suppose to be. Just saying, I eat the first 3 albums like candy, but this one was hard sell..ione mminute im hitting the add to cart button, next song I'm removing it..back and forth....sigh...just a fact man. I dont buy an Ozzy album to hear a Loretta Lynn song....i'll go buy a loretta lynn instead. Understand? you encourage people to just DOWNLOAD IT instead of buying it so they can remove the crap disco funk filler in between the good ppunk songs...just sayin.

I refuse to believe that anyone could hate simple plans albums, it makes me feel nostalgic to think that anyone ever could. Their albums are perfectly perfect and those who don't like them must be the sort of people who thinks everything sucks. It makes me sad to think that and I don't wanna be sad.
