This is an incredibly well done piece and very cute. The only thing I can think of adding is an interior tie just above the scissors pocket so you can tie the scissors in through the finger holds and they'll remain secured no matter which way you toss the kit should you be traveling with it. It's not my original idea but one I've seen on hand embroidery kits for a similar function. I might add a flap over the pocket on the end or a long velcro strip like the spools have so the pockets contents don't spill out. I love the zippered pocket for securing small bits and bobs. Another thing I like is the two pieces of felt for the needle holder. It's great to have a cover over the needles to avoid getting stuck by them when you're going for something else. I wonder if I could add a lining to the zipper pocket so there's an extra open pocket for a bigger item like a pattern. Things wouldn't fall out because the opening would be alongside the spools so it would be closed when the kit was folded up and tied. Yes, this has my mind working on how to modify it to meet my own foibles. It would be fun to embroider my initials on it (my machine does embroidery faster than I can). I love it when a pattern gets my creative juices going. Thank you for posting this video. Just what I needed. There might a gift or two for my granddaughters who have just learned to sew.

Had fun with this pattern. I couldn’t find my Velcro so I sewed an elastic loop at the end of my thread holder and then a button to hold it. Just another option. This is a great scrap buster. I also used fusible fleece as an inner layer.

Perfect for taking along for the weekend!!! I haven't brought along any quilting to our sailboat because of space and how to transport the necessary items. This will easily take along my handstitching needs. Thank you for the slightly larger size.

Love this tutorial. You are so very generous with your time and talent. If your busy schedule would allow, you should kit these up with your beautiful fabric lines and sell them in your Etsy Shop. Love this! I'm thinking you could also fill different bobbins with different colored threads to put on the thread holder. Also, could you put a back on the zipper pouch first. Then, put it down leaving the one edge open for another pocket under the zipper pocket. Just an idea. Thanks so much for the tutorial. 😊❤

As you are using yours for epp, could you do a whole length lining piece, to put a pocket behind the half pocket you use for your packet of cut papers. Do one more bound edge... You will be needing somewhere to put your covered papers and your sewn together "flowers" until you get home. Ziplocks are handy for that. You could also sneak another pocket in behind your clip pouch as well, to put cut fabrics or pattern in? with one more fabric layer. You could have put small pleats in all 4 corners, to leave the excess in from changing zippers? If you sew down 3 sides of your needle keeper, the top of your scissors could tuck in up there? Where do you put your jack the ripper, thimble, marking pencil, tiny cutter or gluepen? In with the clips? Do you have a clear template with seams allowed for fussy cutting fabric hexies? Do you have a tiny cutting mat? You may be able to fit some extra fabric, or squares to applique onto, behind your scissors in that nice bigger pocket? If travelling, could you recharge your kit at night, for the next day, and remove done pieces to your luggage? Have fun, all the best.

This is a really lovely sewing kit, the only thing missing for me especially is a pen holder because I seem to be always using a pen/pencil when I am using my sewing kit. It could possibly fit in between the middle section and the right hand side pocket....what do others think ? Do you need a pen holder too ?

This is a great project but there is too much talking before you even get started making the pouch (7+ minutes). Sorry but Stopped watching after 8 minutes.
@jeanfeeley28023 жыл бұрын
I did like that you were showing things step by step, but I did find some things distracting. I would not keep referring to Vanessa’s bag as it was confusing. I also would prefer the pieces were sewn together ahead of time in the video, rather than stating you were going to the machine (too much back and forth for me) There was a lot of editorializing done in the video which was not necessary. I would just have the steps laid out on a piece of paper and presented in the video. You presented a lot of options in the video which is distracting also-most people will figure out what they want to do. All of this said, I did enjoy the design, but thought you could shorten the videos in the future with less chatting. Thanks.
