I use cat litter....mice won't bother that....I at times get the scented litter....This is best craft...so much fun...a year ago I made 30....all looked different even tho made the same...cut fur from back with craft knife...pull gentle apart....does not shed as much...hardly at all really....that fur off the bolt is great....love that color...I made bunny ones to....ears and all...love him!!!!

I am obsessed with gnomes! I finally broke down and bought some faux fur at Joanne's , I bought a quarter of a yard 60" wide, with my coupon $7.50! If you put the sock over the top of the large cup/glass of rice & just flip it over, you can fill in one step & not risk spilling rice when you try to add more to the sock. Love your channel!

Your gnomes are adorable 💕 love the beard! I was taught to cut the fur from the back with an exacto knife, going only thru the first layer. This way you don't cut the fur. Tfs and God Bless 💕

Yes....and then gently pull apart the fur doesn't shed as much....a year ago I made over 30 gnomes....its fun

I have made a couple of these gnomes and cut the beard with an exacto blade cutting on the backing of the furr. I used some of the dollar tree foot soak beads to weigh them down then filled with polifill. Your gnomes are very cute.

when I made my gnomes I couldn't get any fake fur (mobility issues) but I have tons of fake fur yarn and it worked beautifully.

Remember to freeze your rice for at least 3 hours preferably overnight to kill any bug eggs or larva that sometimes are in rice packages.

I would love to make a gnomes but I can't use my left hand I have celebral palsy and it's hard to make diy stuff with 2 hands, that's why I only do diy that I can use one hand so it won't be to hard for me to do. Ohhh Jody, an easier way to cut fake fur is from the back side with a single edge razor blade or an exact knife just through the back material. Then just pull it apart. That’s the only way I do it. Maybe you would like to try it . Those gnomes are just so seriously adorable . 👍👍👍😊

I love gnomes! They are so adorable. I used to have a bunch of them all over my house in my backyard and then a couple of summers ago my two-year-old granddaughter decided she didn't like gnomes and she killed them all! LOL. I have slowly been trying to replace them. And with all of our socks that only has 1, the other one I just ran away well those socks I think I'm going to be a gnome family. Judy, I found with the fur if you cut from the back of it with a single edged blade , you won’t Have to worry about cutting the Fur. Your just cutting the back and then you just pull it and you didn’t cut any of the fur. I hope this helps so you don’t have to part the fur anymore. God bless.

All of them are so cute ..I'm really going to try an make a few of these they are just darling ..I love them ..my kids will go crazy for them ..they really look easy to make but for me it may not be so easy as my hands shake so bad ..I seen one lady use beans to fill the body with also ..I just can't say enough about how cute they are an sure hope I can make at least one if I can just keep it all in my mind on how to do it ..I wish there was a way I could keep it so I could refer back to each step an see how to do it ..I have Alzheimer's so it's really hard to remember these things ...ty for sharing on how they are made ...I love all I've seen an I have plenty of socks to use ..have a blessed day an weekend ...💗😍😍😄😄

When I use an exacting knife and just cut the backing it does not shed as badly and you lose less of the fur. Just a suggestion.

Instead of rice, I've used the pebbles from the floral dept at Dollar Tree, they work well, also

If you cut the fur from the back and just cut the fabric looking part it will help with the shedding.

You might find it easier to cut the fur from the back. You just cut through the backing. The bottom blade of your scissors should slide under the fur. Don’t take big cuts more like snips. You’ll get less shedding to. I was taught this in a teddy bear class.

This is soooo cute. Great tutorial :) I keep my rice frozen, then add a little crushed bay leaves to it when filling sock. Critters do not like the smell :) Thoroughly enjoyed...
