I use my unused car wash bucket to pre wash my microfibers. I find that a good way to get rid of the bulk of the gunk before it goes in the washer.

I soak mine in a slightly alkaline car soap designed to break down oils and waxes/protectants. Notice that allows the actual detergent to do a better job. Without the pre soak the towels just stay contaminated with stuff like trim protectants and ceramic waxes.

hot wash can melt the fibers if your hot water heat is high, such as in an apartment with a big boiler for everyone's showers and hot water radiator heat, probably best to use warm in that case

I use dawn with a bucket and put my towels in there and do a double wash before I put them in the washing machine. They come out near new clean.

What if I prefer hand washing the microfiber towels using the microfiber soap, anything I should do different or just wash away?

Not only do I inspect my MF towels for debris, but when washing I separate my towels further into 3 categories: (A) Used for Body (generally cleanest), (B) Lower Panel/Undercarriage/Bumpers (second dirtiest), and (C) Tires (Dirtiest). The first two groups can be “safely’ washed together as long as a do a thorough pre-rinse of group (B). Group (C) will always be pre-rinsed and always washed separately, and oftentimes I only reuse Group C only a few times since tire towels gets so caked on with tar/oil, may not even be worth the effort. I will oftentimes take older towels in Group A-B and retire them to C. And that’s my towel management system.

@@MaYbYl8eR Can be- depending on road and weather conditions in between washes. With the exception of the undercarriage, from what I see, even the dirtiest sections of the panel won’t be as dirty as the tires- especially if you always do a pre wash with foam and pressure washer.

Thanks for the vid. I only have one chemical guys drying towel and one glass waffle weave towel. The rest are microfiber towels. I don't want to use the washer for just one item. Is there any other way to wash them? I don't have the chemical guys wash but I do have SalSuds from Dr. Bronners, would this be ok for the other microfiber towels and can I include my drying towel with these? Thank you!

I have found that when I am icing specific microfiber towels, my glass has all the little broken microfiber pieces all over my glass. Could I have damaged them with a higher heat and they are breaking off while I clean my glass? Also, guess it is not a good I dead to use Bounce Fabric Softner either in the Dryer?

I place my used towels, one by one, on a large rubber mat in the garden and spray them with a strong spray. This removes up to 75% clean,, making the washing process much easier. The extra benefit is I'm giving the lawn/trees a drink.

I didn't read all the comments, so for what it's worth - don't use Microfiber towels to clean something with acetone! The towels are polyester and acetone melts them!

I wish I could get into this level of detail but unfortunately my family uses my good rags and cloth for any number of things and even when I buy new ones they get covered in airborne dust and contaminants from the ground when someone blows out the garage etc. I hope someday I can have a garage isolated for just me and my car lol
