I first started transporting my tractor with binders and found them more time-consuming than what they were worth over the 1st year. I then ordered commercial ratcheting tie down straps with chain ends versus those hooks. You can easily hook the frame and slide the other end into a stake pocket. I can fasten either my tractor or a mini ex down at 4 points faster than installing just 2 out of the 4 binders that I was originally using. I've been using straps since 2018 and will never go back to the binders. The straps are rated at over 3,300 each, more than enough for these small units. 2 straps at the front guard / frame and 2 straps off the rear tow plate, and it's tied down at 4 points! Plus, 1 on the implement, if there is one! They are worth investing in if you move your equipment enough. I probably have close to 20 strap setups now with varying lengths

Dot will have the WLL of any strap or chain that is directly attached to the item being secured. 3,000lb strap down to 1,500lb and 5,000lb chain down to 2,500lb. Direct tie down (attaching to item or through item and back to same side of trailer) vs indirect tie down (across or through item to other side of trailer). Wheeled or tracked vehicles need 4 tie downs and then at least 1 for any attachments. From a flatbed/step deck driver for 6 years. 😃

So easy to walk into a hard ware store and but a couple 3/8s Cabell hooks and drill a 1/2 hole in each side braket and mount your hooks with pins and cotter pins that come with you purchase then you can either use chain or same ratchet stamps he uses and way more convenient because you can simply drop what ever you want to tie down with and hook and tighten down. I had to travel over 2,000 miles each way to pick up my tractor, I live in Alaska and there were no options with a cab in the state for 9 months. I just use(d) axle straps and when you cross your chains on the front they clear the steering linkage easily. It works with or without a loader, eliminates the need for midpoint lateral support, and kept a larger tractor than this in place for over 2,000 miles. This seems like an unnecessary modification to me, that doesn't really make trailering safer or easier if you just approached it differently from the beginning.

Those brackets look thick enough for a sub compact, but a compact tractor needs 3/8" thick of maybe 1/2" thick brackets depending upon the weight. Two significant problems in this video. First, You NEVER use straps to secure a tractor. ALL straps stretch and many tractors have flown off trailers unexpected due to strap flex. Messicks has a video covering this. A salesman was delivering a new tractor and the tractor flew off when the trailer went over a bumpy RR crossing at 25 mph. Plus DOT regulations state grade 80 chains and binders. You can get a ticket from a savvy cop who knows the law. You need 4 chains for the tractor per DOT. You need 2 chains for the front end loader. You need 2 chains on the rear implement. Second. The bolts you used are not grade 8 which is what you need for a tie down bracket.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing to clear the tire and tie rod if they are facing forward. As far as beveled on the top, versus squared off, the MFG shows them with the square side up...I put them on with the beveled or sloped side up. They fit either way and so far I'm happy with the way I put them. Easy enough to change if I need to though. Great idea and great product.

I do two on the front on the new tie downs. Then I still do one strap on each side inside of the loader "tube", then one across the implement which of course is attached to the rear of the tractor. So 5 points total on the tractor now.
@genewilliams7497 Жыл бұрын
You have to tie the tractors down off each corner front and back 4 points of attachment….. then you have to tie down the loader with its own straps and any rear implements with its own strap. If you are not doing this you are breaking the law. Luckily most troopers and sheriffs departments officers could give a rats ass on anyone hauling a compact tractor and implements…… unless they are having a bad day and want to wear your ass out and they will eventually. Good luck but I would highly recommend reading your states hauling, trailering and the required tie down requirements. Most of not all states are all the same now which is the federal standard.

It's 18' flat deck (10K). 16' car carrier will be OK if you have a box blade or tiller on it but a brush hog will stick off the back of the trailer. At 7K, a carrier has enough capacity for a 2501 + loader + implement, but a 10K 18' is a much better choice. We've had 3 different trailers for our tractors and it's my favorite.

Taking the loader of the tractor makes absolutely no sense. It counterbalances the tiller and especially the brush hog. And as far as wear and tear on the pins, if you keep everything greased properly there should be zero issues. I recommend you get a third function up front and get a grapple, and leave that on always when not using the bucket. Best attachments you can ever get.
@PineyGroveHomestead2 ай бұрын
I couldn't disagree with you more. Most compact tractors, especially the Kubota L-series are heavy enough that running typical tillage implements requires no extra weight up front. Without the loader the tractor is much more maneuverable and the sight lines around the tractor are greatly increased. Loader pins will definitely wear out even when greased.
