Dude thank you! This is cool. I love cooking outside! This is enjoyable to watch!

you could also pre-soak your pasta in the bag for 30+ min then flash boil it to reduce the time the stove is running. works with any pasta recipe, comes out great

Nce & simple recipe I will try it. Crunchy pasta is under cooked, mushy pasta is over cooked. FYI "al dente" actually means firm not crispy/crunchy. Pasta that is cooked "al dente" is not under cooked nor over cooked. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

This is very good. I found the cheese packets at the $1 store.

Thx! Didn't know about the Velveeta cheese sauce packets. I'll try this with very quick cook instant rice and angel hair pasta. I heard angel hair doesn't require boiling a long time to cook. Just pour on boiling water and let set.

Looks nice. I think some bacon pieces would be awsome as well.

Of yes, you can't go wrong with bacon! We actually saw Walmart had some bacon pieces that were made from real bacon. No bacon bits stuff.

Thank you for this simple and cheap recipe, I was looking for something similar for my trips to nature. In our country, almost no such sublimates are sold as Mountain House (or similar), and if there are they are incredibly expensive. But this should not prevent us to enjoy nature and relax. Greetings from Belarus!

Isn't this just a velveeta mac and chees from the box?

I am not sure that's real cheese. However I know it's good!

Have you considered "pre-boiling" your pasta to al dente and then just finishing it on trail to save time and fuel?

I do asha ramen and cheese to cut down the cook time.

I 💙 M&C and have been trying to find a good way to make it while backpacking where I need to limit my fuel use. I soak it in water in a freezer bag while I’m hiking, but maybe only for an hour before I want to eat it or it gets mushy. The pasta turns white so when I get to camp I will then finish it up by boiling in my pot for a while. It’s not as good as at home but it’s good enough. Using pasta that is faster to cook helps but I do prefer the macaroni texture best. Still trying to perfect it and I’m a ways from achieving that, Lol.

I wonder if one were to cook the pasta and then dehydrate it, if you could prepare this in the bag? I don’t like dirtying my pot.
@FromTheDustOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
North Country Outdoor Guys I’m with you on liking a clean pot! One of the variations that I’ve tried on the trail is to cook the macaroni in my pot but then pour it back into the ziplock, and add the cheese there. It makes it a bit harder to mix everything but your pot stays clean. - Josiah
@jamesmoorhouse52656 жыл бұрын
Couple tips. You can pour the cooked pasta into it's bag and add the cheese to keep your pot fairly clean. Paste leaves some residue but it's nothing like cleaning out cheese. Also, don't let the water boil hard. The water itself is never hotter than 100 deg centigrade no matter how much heat you add. You just create more steam which wastes water and fuel.

Not to mention you can mix the pasta and cheese together in the bag for easier clean up.

try it with a dash of all purpose seasoning and a little bit of olive oil.

I’ve been using this recipe ever since I found this vid and I highly prefer it over the boxed “powder” cheese. That fake cheese gives me a stomach ache and never seems to turn out right. This stuff, I love to pair it with smoked diced ham. So good Also lol & the other guy about not making it while camping and like half of other vids are right outside their house on the deck or on the built in burner from their gas stove 🤦♀️😂
