Simple truss work - Kerala style steel Roofing - 48 ft x 37.5 ft

My house is build with concrete top with slops(kerala style) . To reduce the heat i installed aluminum truss work, with gap from concrete only 1 feet . But instead of reducing heat now its more heat inside the room . When i check with few people they said if there is less gap chance more heat generated in room .So my question is how much gap we need to give from the concrete roof so that heat will reduce
