Simple Upgrade for TC1 Multi Function Tester

I did similar except added them to the end plate at the top. I added a 3.5mm jack with 3x push clips like you have and was lucky enough to have red, blue and purple to match the screen terminal colours, also added red and black banana plug sockets to add some multimeter probes. I do get a small capacitance with the 3.5mm jack and wiring, but i don't use them to measure such small capacitance so it doesn't matter. Now i just need another hand to push the test button lol. Also, add a 20k resistor across c15 on the output of the 5v regulator and your device won't self discharge :)

Hey I did the same mod as you and added a 22K ohm resistor over C15 (to prefent the Battery from discharging as someone else in the comments said). I used a smaller jack though, but same 3 pinout. Works like a charm. soldering is quit difficult for a beginner if you want to solder a tht resistor on C15.

Great mod, thanks for sharing. I added a toggle switch to disconnect the battery when it's not in use, battery drain was pretty bad. Will look into the resistor mod mentioned in another comment.

@@heinzpetersen9356 No, I haven't. The battery does not seem to discharge excessively when not in use, so maybe it's already been fixed on this one, or something else has been done to reduce the problem.

Attention: (I am almost certain the crafty gentleman in this video does not provide this info.) For testing zener diodes, you will also need to plug in to the established outlets (Specifically the lower leftest 2 on the quadrant). I am sure there are other intricacies i have missed or disregarded but hopefully somebody else can come along and add. Happy Tinkering!!

hi, I fried the microprocessor inside, It has a visible little hole in there. I heard the processor is from ATmega series but idk exactly which. And if i could resolder a new one, would it be programmable? I wasted 20 dollars with a stupid mistake=(. Thanks !!

Connect all 3 leads together and zero it out prior to any test you should then be ok . It will self test follow on screen instructions

Please, can anybody tell me if this can measure the esr of capacitors, while they are still on circuit??? It would be very useful.

google for "TC1 Multifunction Tester", you'll find mountains of stuff about them, which should answer your question...

No, not in circuit. Buy the Atlas ESR+, but be aware of: measuring capacitors in parallel will mess up your reading and give you false results.

The seller without the battery was dark-duck007 he tried to tell me they came without battery, i told him i knew they didnt so the next email i got from him said battery no included so i went back and found his items for sale and he had slipped the word no in front of included on all his adds. he then said go and buy a battery to which i repled im not paying the proper price to you and then buying a battery when i can return this to you and buy from a trader whos item is right and is more honest than you and doesn't alter his adds when he has bought items thats not fit for purpose. anyway ebay got involved and a refund was done but now this one that doesn't work just waiting to hear from this new seller. I wanted to buy the simmular little scope but this has put me off.

@@rayfirth2513 wish.com has them as well. There are a few different power choices between some and same sellers. Just be mindful of differences when checking out. They can be sneaky with their descriptions and pictures.

Maybe is possibility check temp.sensor DS18B20 and DHT11 also signal generator? In other versions I saw these functions.

they are handy smart but also very crap quality.In my experience the display start to flicker when i press the test button the 1 one i got the display did flicker every time i used it.The next one i got hold of did not flicker when i got it ,and worked as it should a short time.under 6 months..I think they are crap straigth from factory

Probably accidentally killed it with a capacitor that hadn't been discharged.
