This is lesson book IDEA , a complete course idea. To me this is THE MISSING LINK LESSON. I’ve been begging for this inspiration for years. This will get the hands all over the neck. This can be done with simpler licks. Make this lesson book or course with A bunch of “core” licks. Move it diatonically up and down the neck. After we have learned and completed say, 25-50 the more the merrier core licks with demonstrations on moving it up and down the neck, repetition will seal the deal. You brother Rick will have created a following of happy confident shredders. I would pay double your price for this lesson pack.

I saw a John Petrucci video where he talks about using the shape or sequence to do 2 things, either just moving from a to b or to use it as a route to move your actual idea. An idea I got from Marty Friedman would be to use the shape but what is also available when your hand is there, that's called the neighborhood, or you could also play whatever licks are within that section of the sequence or between it. That kind of idea creates this sort of shreddy mixed with rock or blues kind of thing which I enjoy very much. So it's like you have the technique and the soul/attitude

The highest section of the lick played fast reminds me of this Tom Quayle run that he plays all the time, like a catch phrase. Good stuff, thanks.

Isn't frustrating how you can play along with him when he shows the lick for the first time and then he plays at his fucking insane speed and then you are like "really nigga?"? haha

Maybe try to incorporate a metronome into your practice routines. Slowly build up speed over time.

Moving diatonically, especially with your strange passing note...this has a bit of a Bachean feel, at least to my ears. That Bach thing where it's constantly moving and changing almost nonsensically, but somehow having strong melodic musical sense throughout. Gotta go practice now.
