The bump after second dribble also takes away the defenses jumping abilities making contact early so they will have less success blocking you from behind
@JC-rv6lo5 жыл бұрын
Yea sure that would work if you're versing a 120 pound midget or a scrub at the park, but if you're putting the ball down like that, at some point the ball has to come back up when you pick the ball up to shoot or pass. It's a simple act of keeping one of your hands high (usually the one closest to the baseline if the ball handler is driving baseline) to restrict vision and block passes, usually the one closest to the baseline if the ball handler is driving baseline. Now if you try and bump, the defender can use the momentum against the offensive player, the hand naturally wants to come down after the person is bumped, now if you want to strip the ball you can do it with way more force. It's how NBA players like Andre Igoudala get steals. A good and famous example of this is how James Harden stripped Demar Derozan when he wasn't even looking after DeRozan tried to bump Harden off. Don't forget about help defense aswell, tough shots that come as a result of being off balance after bumping into someone are easy blocks for a defender who rotates over when versing a well coached team. Kids on defense only try and get blocks, smart defenders try and get strips aswell when the offensive player takes the chance for the block away.

Coach I have question what if u have a hard time dribbling left handed ?? Please respond
@JC-rv6lo5 жыл бұрын
I will tell you, don't waste your time with this "coach". Don't get yourself in that position in the first place, dribbling when you're in traffic wastes time. Read the defense (look at the weakside and strongside), find a teammate preferably who is one pass away, then you pass and cut. This is also called "give and go" and high level NBA players who are slashers and don't dribble do this. Basically what Lebron James and D wade used to do with the Heat. If you have a good coach/teammates then you can get off ball screens. Dribble if you know your defender has slower feet than you/tired, otherwise look for better plays such as cuts, postups etc.
