OK, so the penny - It would eventually destroy Earth, but... in order to survive, could humanity simply... move onto the penny? Like, could we live on its surface? Presumably it would have an atmosphere, etc. My question would be, if you lived on the penny, as it expands, would structures/lifeforms on the surface be engulfed by the expanding penny, or would the penny expand from the inside, leaving things on the surface unharmed?

@@thegreatmajora5089 Well, I'm not a physicist, but I would assume everything on the Earth would end up on the penny. The Earth would be destroyed by colliding with the penny, but it's not like the Earth would just poof out of existence. Also, as the Pennys gravitational pull got stronger, more and more planets would be drawn towards it. In fact, now that I think about it, wouldn't that mean that like... the sun, and other planets also end up stuck to the penny? Depending on the overall mix of resources from all the smooshed poosh planets, the penny would likely just be unlivable. Or at least have vast amounts of its surface unlivable, anyways. Something else I was thinking about, would be that the penny would be a Flat Earthers wet dream. They'd finally get to see what actually living on a disc world was like. Namely how weird the absense of timezones would be. Aside from the fact there'd be no sun, if there was some source of heat and light but the penny didn't spin one side would cook while the other freezes. You'd also be able to see into a seemingly neverending horizon, assuming you were on the raised areas of the pennys surface. The more I think about the implications of the penny the deeper the rabbit hole of problems goes.

I think this is like the fourth or fifth hack competition I've watched, and honestly, it's probably turned in both the best and worst hacks. It makes me wonder if people felt "challenged" by the Zelda theme to make these huge, sprawling, epic hacks, that are unfortunately just too long to properly playtest, and too big for Flips to want to actually enjoy. Kinda disappointing because you can tell a lot of love went into some of these.

I honestly think that making those parallax scrolling textures fast-moving conveyors with a death plain behind the train would work better than having said textures being lava. In turn, parts of the chassis could be lava to simulate being hit by the train. I am not sure if Echo is even bothering with working on this hack anymore, however.

A possible solution to discourage long hacks in future competitions could be to limit the time spent playing each entry. This would force creators to fit the meat of their hack into a smaller time constraint, while still letting them create bigger hacks with lots of BONUS.

That GBJ was cum worthy. This competition has brought us a whole slew of amazing hacks for various reasons, this really did look like some of the best level design, but definitely not a comp hack's length. The fact we do have all of these mini-hacks is great, though. Also, I'm a way bigger Mario fan having become a fan of your content, I've developed an immense appreciation for SM64 and the technical, more advanced side of video games as a whole. Not to say I don't still blow chunks, like, ACTUALLY blow chunks, but it's good. Thanks, dad.

I think, at least for a relatively cool idea maybe I dunno, for comp hacks like this where thematically it makes sense to have long hacks people could do a collab on it. One where each person does their own map or something for a big hack. Watching this one I fully understand for one entry it's too much and I agree, but imagining if each of the levels was a separate person's entry for a cohesive LoZ concept is neat imo

@@Jack-ss9fo Making the implication that the word dream is linguistic slack fill for: being made of the magic of the wind fish sleeping. So the wind fish lied to you trick you into doing a genocide. Plus we have the double slit experiment plot hole where in 1 ending she dies and the other she escaped the dream as a seagull except there is no reference to a magic singing seagull in the rest of the Zelda Cannon making the implication that the "real" ending is the one where she dies! Because the wind Fish skeleton is in the Gerudo desert so it's no longer a moral argument but a canon one. Because the only way you are able to justify the ending Link's Awakening is that they're "just dreams" .... right? But the entire plot only holds up under the context that the wind fish is completely incapable of lying. Which I do not believe. Because if he doesn't convince you that the dreams lives don't matter then he stays in a coma forever. Which is why the ending speech seems less like "thank you for waking me up" and more like "Okay here's why what you just did isn't like the biggest dick move ever". Dreams don't become seagulls! Who did that? Who made her be a seagull? Did Marin clench her butt cheeks together to become a seagull or did the wind fish have mercy on her? Mercy on what? She's not supposed to exist!

Well in the trailer you hear Mario go "bye bye!" instead of his classic "So long gay Bowser!", which indicates that the port is based off of the Shindou version of the game. Shindou was an update which I don't think ever released in the U.S, but introduced changes such as changing that voice line, and, the most notable, removing BLJ's. So unless Nintendo used that voice line, but the rest of the game is original, which, based off of Nintendo's history with glitches, I highly doubt, then it will be a bit different from the Mario 64 we've come to know.

This may sound weird but maybe hack competitions should have a length and/or star limit? It would make it more accessible for newcomers and Simple would get through them faster. Because right now I feel like people who work or have school can't compete with people with a lot of free time who are able to craft much longer hacks, no disrespect to those people. It may even encourage people making longer hacks to spin that off into a larger project independent of any competition, like a full length hack. Just an idea.

Ought to have two categories per competition -- a "half hour playtime" category and a "one hour playtime" category, so that length becomes less of an issue. Putting in more effort is still rewarded to an extent because high-effort hacks in the one-hour category are less numerous, making it easier to get first place there, but people also don't feel obligated to make crazy-long hacks because they're screened out by category. That's my take, anyway.
