It's not that they didn't enjoy the 747s its the fact that they didn't like how inefficient they were at the time. When the merger initially happened back in 2008 fuel prices were skyrocketing and on the chopping block were the larger 4 engine aircraft of which the first to go were Northwest's 747F freighter fleet. The continued to use the 747-400s all the way to 2018 when they finally retired them.

@@skyserf but then your question should be "Are the 747s United had before the merger included" and not "Are Continental‘s 747s included". Also, CO joined UA. It was a rather big merger and United of course also took over the CO livery, because of these changes it was probably called the "new United". On the paper they still were the same company, so same Name, Codes, AOC, ...!

I flew AA 747 in the late 70's from Boston to Chicago and back. They had a small bar in the front for 1st class and a much bigger bar in the back with a piano built in for the coach passengers. I actually played a couple of fun songs as did a couple of others. Not sure how many years they did that but it was really neat and fun. It must have taken up 6 to 8 rows of seats and to much revenue.

It’s sad you would choose American to be the most prominent in the the thumbnail when they never had the 747 prominent in their fleet . Only United and Northwest were the major operators of the 747 . Delta got their fleet by default .

Back and forth to South Korea and the US east coast 3x's. When you could smoke in the cabin. They were alot better than the -100 and -200. Flew with united and dam they were good in all classes. Flight was so long I was helping the flight crew on the upper deck. Awesome

My favorite seat was 10A on the main deck of the NWA 747-400 which later became Delta's. While the main deck did not feel as cozy as the upper deck, this seat had an extraordinary amount of leg space, like a foot more than most business class seats. It faced a bulkhead and was probably just the lucky beneficiary of extra space the airline couldn't make profitable use out of. BTW, never liked looking out the windows of the upper deck seats. Always felt like I had to slouch a great deal in order to see properly.
