Black Rock are great kits, by far the best range I have tried.

I tell you what I am very impressed 😁

I rated the Pale Ale 4/5 when I did it. Which is about as good as I have rated any kits... all Black Rock I have done have got a 4/5. I've dressed them up in to some very enjoyable brews.

Black Rock Pale Ale is a nice K&K, bit worried about only 5g of yeast though, I normally toss it and add US05 😊
@SimpleHomeBrew Жыл бұрын
I don't think it matters so much to be honest, it turned out perfect, I am starting to think you don't need so much yeast in lower gravity beers. Most kits come with 11g and that works out great. I am working on a high gravity beer at the moment and put in two packs of us-05 as the SG was 1.068 lets see if it comes down enough or will I need more yeast?

Hey P, great video! You know I love an extract kit. How easy is that pull tab can !! No more gummy Can openers. The brew sounds spot on. Cheers mate , much appreciated

Yeah so good, I wish that all had pull tabs.

It's very good! One thing, don't oxidize it😰, just saying.

@@SimpleHomeBrew yeah, my spiced mead bloody oxidised. Was really looking forward to it, too.

Thanks for the video Pierre, due to my disability I only brew kit beers, I enhance them mostly and when I on a good day I will add some speciality grains steeped, but that my limit, you have great looking equipment in yor shed now, Cheers 🍻

Thanks Andy I am happy with my setup right now at least until something interesting pops up. I'm working on something interesting that has three cans of extract and coconut. looking forward to I must say.

I'll have to agree with Littlejohn I really enjoy the blackrock range, and they have some great recipes aswell i haven't done the pale ale yet but I will in the next few weeks planning on doing a blackrock crafted oatmeal stout with a blackrock crafted witbeir as my next brew cheers and happy brewing
@SimpleHomeBrew Жыл бұрын
It sounds great, let me know how it go's
@gc-1981 Жыл бұрын
@@SimpleHomeBrew hey Pierre, what I thought about doing a oatmeal stout with a witbeir kit I've decided against it as the witbeir kit will overpower the stout, so I'm going to be doing 2 cans of oatmeal stout with 400 grams of lactose, cacao nibs, a vanilla pod, some natural orange essence to create a jaffa style stout

I've got that kit, sitting on the shelf (yeast and hops are in the fridge), really looking forward to brewing it up.

Great video mate. Have you seen any increase in quality now your using filtered water over the campden tablets ? Is it an ro filter ? Thinking of getting this setup myself.
@SimpleHomeBrew Жыл бұрын
Hi philster, I am using a normal carbon filter the same ones that are used in RV's. It doesn't remove all the chlorine but it does make a big difference to my beers without adding campden. What I have found, is the beer seems to last a little less over time probably something to do with not having a preservative like campden. I was reluctant to get an RO system as it takes all the minerals out and gives you a completely blank canvas for all grain but with extract it is much harder to add minerals. Hmmmm, I don't know, maybe using the RO filter will be better as the extract is already made and has concentrated its mineral content. You have just triggered a thought. Cheers

I am about to make my first BR PA and will be kegging. Watching you video, I noticed that you didn't allow 92 grams of dextrose to assist carbonation in the keg. Do you normally do that?
@SimpleHomeBrew7 ай бұрын
No I don't need to as I carbonate using c02. When you do it this way you don't need to use sugars to gain carbonation.

Great video mate. Just got my self a Black Rock cider after watching this. Thinking of brewing it under pressure, any thoughts on the PSI setting? Cheers
@SimpleHomeBrew7 ай бұрын
Nice one, I ferment at around 2-5 psi for the first two or three days, then take it to 15 psi for the rest of the time. This is meant to reduce the the advent of bad aromas and flavours.

Unfortunately you have come across one of my experimental videos, I made this as an experiment to see the audience's reaction and found it to be a little hard to watch. All my future videos are using motion tracking. Look forward to your input on those videos. Cheers

I tried it and it tasted sour. I don't know where I went wrong.

It seems maybe you have somehow contaminated your brew with outside bacteria perhaps?
