Riverside Camping & Summer Burbot Fishing

With summer in full swing we put the boat in the water and take it out for the first trip of the season. Fishing for Burbot in silty waters and camping under the midnight sun along the river made for a fun vacation from the cabin.

Bandit's ready! That boy is a mess. LOL Arielle, when Eric asks if you want coffee, the correct answer is: "Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle?" That stir fry was looking really good ! It's been so many years since I had sourdoughs... way too long. Love 'em! My great-aunt in Kotzebue made the BEST sourdoughs. When I'd visit and she'd ask me what I wanted her to cook for me, I always asked for her sourdoughs.

Aloha and enjoy. Drove up the first time in 92, stayed at a remote fishing lodge in 98. Told myself I wanted to enjoy a full season up there. So I got a job at a remote fishing lodge, and worked there four seasons. Watched and experienced spring through fall. Have fun!

Bandit was sure in his element. Loved seeing him, nose in the wind on the front of the boat. Reminded me of my Newfoundland mix when he rode in the car. Winter or Summer, he insisted the window be open so he could get the wind in his face. I was surprised to see how close the beaver got to you all. Great video. 🇦🇺I loved camping and fishing. We had 4 kids plus up to 10 foster kids. So we needed to be organised. We had bags/back pack with our essentials in. On the inside of each bag had a list of what should be inside. Pot and pan bag: pots , pan and billy, waterproof matches and lighters, garbage bags, washing liquid, sponge, scrubbers etc Crockery/cutlery bag: plates, bowls, cups , tea towels, washing line and pegs. Dog bag: towels, bowl, water bottle Fishing bag: with essentials Tent bag: we had 1x 8 man tent + 3 x 5 man tents, repair kit, extra pegs, under tent tarps, over tent tarps-to keep off rain. Dustpan and brush. Medical bag: pain meds, Band-Aid’s, gauze, creams, bug stray, anti sting cream, Panadol, bandages of all sizes, needle and thread, pliers (hooks). These are just some of what we had.

In the Midwest it works to swab your bait in Romano zambuca, a black licorice liquor. You might want to try it. I dip worms and minnows in it on the advice of a local legend, it really works..
