I think a good saying to put in your wall would be "I did this myself and the internet is proud of me". I hope you will take this in the spirit that it is given, so here goes. I have been in the construction business for 50 years as of this year, with the past 42 years specializing in metal building construction. If you are going to do a lot more screwing down of metal panels and trim, I would suggest getting a proper screw gun and not using drills and drivers. I know it sounds silly, but it really does make a difference when installing the screws. I learned this the hard way after a couple of years using a drill and then getting a screw gun. Also, you used the mesh for your ridge vents which is okay, but they make closed foam strips that are formed to the shape of your panel and are 3'_0" long (the same as the width of your panel). These get a strip of double-sided tape applied top and bottom and stick to your flat base and to the underside of your panel perfectly cpnforming to the corrugations. Then you put the rige trim down over the top of these strips and screw down the ridge trim at the same time screwing down the strips. On the other hand, I have to give you full props for being up on that roof without being tied. I have a fear of heights and even though I have to go up on the roof once in a while to do things, you won't catch me up there at anytime without being tied to something. I am in no way criticizing what you have done, just suggesting alternate methods that I use almost every day that make my life easier. Your trim helper is pretty sharp. Cutting all of the angles at hips and valleys is a tricky undertaking and he did a good job. Overall, through your project, I have to say that I am one of those on the internet that IS PROUD OF YOU.

My favorite quote about home: “Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends.” And I feel like this is your case, your home. You invested LOT of work, passion, energy, love and patience in house, but much longer you are building a home, with all your people, family and friends, all relationships that you carefully built and nurture. I wish you all the best in future work. ❤

You should have no regrets since you did it your way and learned a ton on this venture! I built my own house at age 22yr with my brother in law and major help from my father in law as we didn't know anything about laying a roof! My Mom told me after the house was completed "Once home is where our heart is, then indeed our house will be blessed"..Thank you Biata for having us along on your journey! I know that feeling of accomplishment all too well..May all the Creator's blessings be upon you..

Good morning, B. I will give you of my favorite Quotes; • "I am not now, that which I was", Lord Byron. (As we all change through life. I used it at my Master examen at University, because I finished on the subject Metamorphism. You evolve/gro SO much during this project, so I think it is fitting) • "This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts", a line from a song called God is a DJ...(and my motto for my training space. I train at home and my physical training helps me stay mentally as well as physically healthy. I wish for you to see your home as a place to heal). You are getting there, girl. Keep up the good mood and the fine work. All the best to you and your family - and Congratulations to your mother on her birthday.👍☀️🇨🇦☀️👍

We live in an area like yours in the mountains of Arizona. I had a licensed contractor replace my roof (3000 SF and $32,000 with a standing seam steel roof. He did not put a screen under the ridge line (I wasn't there to watch the job) and now I have to remove the ridge cap and a good part of the roof to remove the hundreds of bats and their associated guano and other stink. This involves removing siding and sheet rock and having a company in to clean and sanitize the whole area.. I don't know what it is going to cost yet. I would get the screen on ASAP! I would also urge you to inspect the entire outside of the house for ANY holes the bees and or bats can get in. WE had a colony of bees enter the roof and ceiling through about a 1/2 inch hole. After we removed the bees we had to cut the ceiling out of a bedroom and remove 80 lbs of honeycomb. We didn't know they were until our cat was constantly staring at the ceiling. The contractor said it was not his problem.
@SimpleLivingwithBiata3 ай бұрын
Oh WOW! That is crazy! The whole home is still open with the soffit so critters can get in at this point! Hopefully we’ll have it closed soon!

@@SimpleLivingwithBiata I'm glad you are getting it fixed. I am trying to find a bat removal company and then a company to remove the siding and roof to clean and sanitize the soiled area. So far I have a bid of $6800 just to remove the bats. That is ridiculous! I have done it myself and I have the bat valves but I am approaching 77 years old and my wife will kill me if I get on a three story roof. Geat work!
