Update: to make a missile capable of being fired from underwater, create a new XML property (in the same way as you would for changing the maxRange) called 'waterproof' and set this to true.

This may be the greatest tutorial of all time, 45 minutes ago, I had no sub and no way to make one, now, with a bit of pausing to build, I was able to create my own sub, and know the basics of how to do it!

The trick is to use the tiny position correction thruster, they work under water even if the VTOL engine is completely submerged

Sorry for the slow response, I try to respond to comments like these a bit quicker. You should be able to select a location which lets you spawn in the water, they should have 'water takeoff' in the location name.

to make the misile function on the water go to the xml and put waterProf true and boom

Fix for the missiles not working after touching water is put in xml code named waterproof and on the other erea true. This makes the missile works even underwater

Can you send me your submarine? Then I can have a look at it so I can help you fix it. Maybe it back heavy, which means you will have to increase the buoyancy in the rear, either by increasing the percentage value or by increasing the mass scale. Also make sure the floats all aren't in front of the centre of mass, so there are also some behind it. It could also be you didn't make the rear buoyant enough, in that case just increase the buoyancy either by increasing the percentage ot the mass scale.

This tutorial exists because at the time of recording, there was 0 available info on how to make submarines in SimplePlanes. Like, this is the first tutorial for this available anywhere (atleast as far as I am aware). The point of this video was never to be a great, straight to the point video, but rather a tutorial I could record without any preperation just so that others wouldn't need to spend hours figuring out how to make a submarine like this.
