It's time for a project of a lifetime, as we continue our Passive Solar Greenhouse with Geothermal Build in Mongolia. This could be the first Passive Solar Greenhouse built in Mongolia that has also incorporated a full GAHT System Geothermal greenhouse. In this episode we will Finish the full piping system and the refilling of all the dirt and topsoil for the Passive Solar Greenhouse on our homestead in the countryside on Mongolia. We also get a delivery of stones from Ulaanbaatar that we will need for our Passive Solar Greenhouse built to be able to incorporated a GAHT System Geothermal earth battery system greenhouse. Through the implementation of innovative technical solutions we will be able to extend the growing season and grow things that no one has ever grown in Mongolia before.
This is all part of the adventure and joinery to an off-grid homestead in the land of the blue sky.

Hey guys? I just found this channel and I want to let you in on a bit of physics. In summer You always want to be pulling the air from the ground on the cold side of the system. Suction is how you create refrigeration. It enables the air to release its heat into the battery efficiently. In the winter you want to be forcing the cold air from the bottom of the green house underground. Pressure = heat. Suction = Cooling.

Hi 👋 Dave we are so glad you found our channel and hope you enjoy it. 🙏🏻👏 thanks for the advice we really appreciate it
@davefroman4700
@davefroman4700 2 жыл бұрын
@@SimpleWildLiving Ive seen TOO many people fail because they tried to force hot air down. Air needs to experience a drop in pressure to release its energy. And by sucking the air out on the cold side of the system, you will take in hot air from the peak of the greenhouse in much greater volume.

Top job guys, great you put in pipes for the underground probes. I will have a chat with you re adding some speed controllers to the fan temp controls as its better to slow the air speed when extracting heat compared to cooling, again very cheap components available like the STC 1000's regards rob

Great video! You guys are doing a wonderful job compiling these videos. I really like how you found a way to quickly add perforations (drain holes) to your tubing. That's a great option if perforated is not available. Also a very good illustration of how to add pipes for thermal mass temperature monitoring! Many folks forget to do this and wish they did later on. The 150mm diameter manifold tubes are on the small side. That will make it difficult to get enough airflow to fully utilize your heat storage system. The length of your tubes is also fairly long. It is optimal to run the tubes the shortest length, typically North-South. I'm excited to see more of your build! Hopefully the snow stays away!

If you put the tees at 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees, wouldn't that mean you can only run the airflow in one direction? With 90 degrees you could reverse the air flow if needed.

In this application we use stones in between the pipes for a few reasons. One it a bit better heat retention that just dirt but it’s not as good as compressed sand and at the time we couldn’t find a good material cover for the piping. Plus stone or much much cheaper here that Sweden..

Your insulation is impressive but your pipe collectors are surely not big enough. This fact requires an unnecessary bigger ventilator and the heat exchange is probably inefficient. If you do such a design without basic calcul then you aim to be deceived by the result. Besides by putting your pipes so deep you do not get the advantage to heat the top soil to create a radian emission from the soil. However the air is going through a higher and more stable temperature which is good.

How was the temperature difference 28:35 inside the isolation and outside the isolation
@SimpleWildLiving

That’s a long answer and it depends on what time of year and the usage.

In the summer time the ground inside the GH 2meters down got the 19 degrees and outside about 14c. At the moment it 3,22 degrees outside 2 meters down and 6,3 degrees C inside 2 meters down. The outside is dropping about 0,22 degrees a day and the inside is rising 0,20 degrees per day. In the end of November to the middle of December we were having -32 to -38 night and we used up the ground battery in the night because I have the heat temperature set to high to turn on. I will only know this year how high I can get the ground battery temperature up to before it’s get really cold again in February. But it is look much better than last year 👍

Last year the ground temperature outside at 2 meters down got to -0,50 degrees I think

Yes that will be an other questian how long does it take to cool down the battery =D noted on my questian box =D. Becouse in the end you just push cold air down the pipes. and get the "normal" ground temp up @@SimpleWildLiving

In sweden they dont used isolation between the soil and the concreteblocks. think its becouse the ground should be the isolation itself but with your statistic it show that its better to isolate around. We have to difference concrete and something called (light expanded clay aggregate, LECA) and thay are litle isolation inside them. air pockets. and people that don't do the piping dont isolate. but i think al them who do the piping under will isolate around the pipes. my design is more to dig down and when i backfill it will good soil it will be 2 meters from the groundlevel to the walkingground and thave the piping next to the greenhouse more like kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4ixYXSVnN2lkNE but not that close and around 2 meters down with stones and cover so the piping dont get dust in them. Might nearly 100% apply the colddrop cans from @mantihomestead. But maybe more like @ADifferentWay with the air coming infrom outside and through piping. @@SimpleWildLiving
