Gotta love an old Simplex system. Nice video!

I’ve never heard a simplex mechanical horn strobe higher pitched than a g# note some as low as f or any device that used a digital faraday diaphragm

Love this old Simplex System! They should've installed 4903-9220s along with the 9219s. They should replace the broken strobes with 4903-9252/9255 and 4904-9176/4904-9183 counterparts depending on what candela the strobe is. I actually did see a green asterisk on the first 9219 (similar to what you'd find on a 9236).

realistically unless if simplex are still making their 4903 series, they would probably replace those alarms with truealerts

@@Luke202-z8b They are, but only to for retrofit applications to replace the older 4903 horn strobes

Did the vertical 4903s replace any different alarms
@sirenfreak57 Жыл бұрын
Probably, there is a blank plate on the wall next to the first vertical 4903 I show in the video and the other is flush mounted. The university acquired the building in the mid-1980s from what I could find in our archives and converted it from storage/warehouse space into office space at some point between then and 1994-95.

@@sirenfreak57 They probably had simplex 2903s with 9833 horns, assuming the building was actually built in the 1980s
@sirenfreak57 Жыл бұрын
@@ChristPaidOurSinDebtit was built long before the 80’s, but the 80’s was when we purchased the building from the former industrial company that used the building for that purpose. We did have a couple other systems that had 9833s paired with 2903s so it is possible.

@@sirenfreak57 I wonder why the 2 horn strobes at 0:33 (The First one) and 0:45 (The Second one) are vertical
@Luke202-z8b5 ай бұрын
so ig it wasn't just the camera not agreeing with the bright strobes this time...

Are these horns much louder in person
@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire75544 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, those 4903-9219, 9215 and 9217 horn strobes are loud, especially the newer versions with a colored shape on the strobe reflector.

Yeah those alarms need to be replaced with 4903-9255 and 4904-9176, though the mechanical horn harmony wouldn't be heard. It would just have an annoying loud Eeeeeeeeeeeeh sound.
@sirenfreak57 Жыл бұрын
@@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554they were not broken, the alarm circuit was shut off so fast they didn’t go or they were disabled. They did pass the final inspection about three weeks later, although I was not present for that test, as I was working at another location on campus that day.
